Makes absolutely no difference if it was moved there as long as the flexi is in the system around that point

And if you mount it in the plane vertically of the downpipe you get less flex to horizontal engine movements and SS expansions.
swings and roundabouts
which occurs more often, engine movement during driving or hitting speed ramps
Originally MRC had it in the downpipe more to do with concerns over manifold cracking http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showpos...9&postcount=84Last edited by Jamo; 8 September 2011, 09:14.Comment

Nothing to do with which occurs more often. You want to have everything covered.
You wouldn't stay that the stereo in the car was more important than the seatbelts even though you listen to the stereo everyday.
Most downpipes I've seen have had some impact at some point in their life.Comment

the downpipe emerges pretty much exactly between the wheels, ground clearance should not be any issue. If you hit something large enough to hit the downpipe you've gone off road and this should be the least of your worries IMHO.Panthero Coupé quattro 20vt

All was well and good until we found the MAF readings were all over the place. Reading too high at idle, too low on boost. It was causing some lean running and rather than map around it we went for the 'do it properly' approach - using a known good nearly-new RS2 MAF.
Round #2 and things were looking much better until the clip holding the PCV value together popped off... in now dark conditions this involved losing skin to the back of a baking hot cylinder head but eventually everything was working and the intake was holding pressure again.
Third time proved to be lucky. I was worried about my reoccurring vibrations when giving the car some stick during the past couple of weeks, but some tweaking of the snub mount has that sorted in all scenarios except hard left under heavy throttle. A good 1/3 tank of fuel later and the car was mapped... I chickened out of giving a few hard launches until I replace the CV joint, so launch control will be configured at a later date :mischeif:
The headline figures are peak boost of 2.1 bar peak with 1.8 bar at 6000rpm and 1.55 bar at the redline. A safe 80% peak duty on the Bosch 550 (510cc) injectors points to approx. 410bhp, looking forward to getting it on a dyno. I really don't care about the figure to be honest, it feels smooth and progressive and is seriously quick!
Hopefully Dmitri will provide some logs soon, but I need to get set up to provide some FATS times and schedule a dyno run. I just need a new RS2 MAF before I drive it in anger again, which is proving impossible
