Some manifolds landed in the post today from German eBay so tonight I have had a play...

The header flanges are identical between, RS4 (Left) and S5(Right)

Here you can see the side profile difference

First thing is first I don't want to have a large 4 bolt flange so I will cut that off

Then I will TIG on the V Band

You can just see in the top of the picture now where the V band is I have loads of room for a 3" downpipe each side now

So both manifolds have been bolted on and ticked off the list

And I have now fully installed the large Alloy radiator and begun the nasty task of figuring out how to plumb it all...

So today I had the box out again!!!!

Raymor off the S2forum has an RS4 engine and gearbox so he kindly made a rough template of the crank position sensor location.

So to make a mount I first cut a lump of aluminium off a solid bar I had lying around.

Then after a couple of hours in the lathe and the Bridgeport milling machine I ended up with something looking like this

This was then TIG welded in the correct position onto the gearbox spacer I had made.

When the spacer plate is now mounted to the back of the engine the sensor is now spot on in the right position

So all I have done now is grind a small section out of the bell hosing where the original inspection hole is.

I preferred to do it like this so a) I don't have a circular saw (timing ring) attached to the crank pulley.
          B) if the box detonates I can just buy another box grind a bit off and throw it in without having to re fabricate any brackets or mounts for the sensor.

Got another 20v turbo into UR conversion again this week so won't get much chance to do anything further this week.

Standard typ85 016 gearbox and I don't have the drawing but would be able to get another one made at the same company that did mine. Hopefully they retained the file.

i have typ85 sedan 4 cyl quattro , and trying to put a 4,2 ABZ and would like to keap my gearbox . my question is would that spacer work on my setup , and if so how much would it cost ?
do you have any more pics of your spacer?

I would think the final drive ratio 4.11 would be to high for the V8. Depends what you want to use the car for, but best go for V8 ratios, IMO
                            Regards

I know you really want 16'' but I came across these http://www.marktplaats.nl/a/auto-ond...reviousPage=lr very rare in that offset 10 and 15.
