Hey Josh! Have you heard about some guy....

on the AW Forum getting a group buy together for some FG RS2 front and S2 rear bumpers that a pro ralley shop makes in your neck of the woods?
Thinking about getting a rear bumper for my coupe but going to see if I can put the DOT rebar in it. What do you think?

I'm thinking a rally team does not care too much about proper fitment to the body or proper fitment of lights. It may be okay for a bumper being bashed up on the back roads but maybe not for a nice street car.
      Just something to consider...

I was thinking the same thing dave is thinking. I wonder how well the brackets and such would match up if it even has brackets. As you noticed he mentioned "rivets". But for american rebar that could very well be a good solution.

Everyone has there um.... ways of making choices. I been down a couple roads and I wasn't impressed. I just choose to be patient now a days.

However I also considered having bumpers made but i haven't found the time to do it. In all seriousness my town is perfect for fiberglass or carbonfiber bumpers etc. Ussuallly once a month I watch 15 shelby cobra frames leave bristol to different companies. No idea right now. I like the idea of making money as much as anyone else but I won't sell a product I don't completely have full faith in. In the sense of buying a fiberglass bumper. I wouldn't put money down on something that i could have pics of first either.

To be honest I allready accidently dropped my bumper and put a small hair line crack in it. If it was plastic it would of flexed and would of been fine.
On the other hand fiberglass is easy to fix. However pearl paint is not easy to match. Depending on the color of your car I learn flex is important on expensive pearl paints.

        Mixed emotions.

        Cheers
        Josh

The RS2 indicators will be a straight fit, however, there should be no need for the metal brackets, as we're looking at adding a moulded section to locate them onto. The RS2 fogs will also fit. I'm saving a few quid here and opting for the ducts that replace the fogs...Thanks to Doug for supplying the originals for the mould
I`d be interested in one of these in Glass, not worried about the mesh either at the moment as I would need to Tweak it anyway.
If you could let us know a price I would appreciate it

The first one has been manufactured in glass fibre for test purposes. I'm hoping the next one or two will be made from Carbon/Kevlar.
I'll post some pics when I get it on the car...

Count me in if the price is right!!!!!!!!

Mould is being tweaked at the moment. As soon as it's finished I'll post info on availability, cost, etc.

Good news. just too late to get the painting done at the same time mine goes into the body shop (hopefully next week) to get the rear end sorted. But still interetsted when finished.

Yeah, good idea Tom. I was wondering what was happening about your replacement bumper at the weekend. I've been drawn away from this recently, due to work, home, kids, etc. The mould wasn't quite right when the first one left it and a few tweaks were required to get it right. I'll see what's been sorted and get back to you with details.

@Steve: totally off-topic and I should send a PM, but I'm right in the middle of getting ready to take the plane for this afternoon. Are you coming to Doug's? With or without the car?

                        Lemme know.

                        Cheers,

Mik, My clutch is slipping under load when I boot it in 4th and 5th. I don't think it will be up to remapping and a trip onto the RR. If you think it's worth it, or you can map it with less boost until higher revs, I'll bring it up with me. If not, I'll have to hold on until the next time you're over here.

Yup, there are a few 'issues' with the mould The top surface of the first bumper has dropped slightly, leaving a gap between the bumper and the bonnet. This will need to be fixed before they will be offered to anyone. If the mould can't be changed it will need to be made again. A bummer, but best to correct before anyone buys one. I'm not expecting this to happen until the new year, so no RS2 bumpers for Christmas. Best to ask santa for a GT40R
