Audi 80 Quattro (Type 89) - AAN Engine Conversion

RS2 intercooler fits directly on an RS2 crossmember, it fits to an ABY if you make/modify a bracket.

RS2 intercooler will not fit behind a stock bumper without cutting the bottom out of it.

What are you doing rad wise? (as that will make a difference to your intercooler setup)

Radiator is as Audi 90, the engine bay will be as 90.

How much cutting is required? - Does anyone have any pics of this and how it looks to end up with?

Im enroled in the same stuff, but im stucked in how to connect all pins to the fusebox....did you follow any guide??

I ve used a million times the ABY engine harness guide, but its the first time I see the other one, exactly what I was looking for!





Btw, Im going to use a 2.0 radiator, mounted in the front. with it you can use AAN IM and water manifold too + ebay IC and custom bracket.

I've just bought an RS2 intercooler so, thats all the engine parts sourced now

No doubt I'll need some bits n bobs but put it like this I've never been closer than this before

Just bought an RS2 Inlet Manifold - the "piece de resistance" for me........it just smacks you in the face when you open the bonnet, and for those less familiar with whats what it leaves them with no doubt about the heritage of the engine tuning!

Since the engine is out I’m going to get the components all cleaned up and painted and rebuild everything, while it’s easy to get around it I thought I might as well change the timing belt and do the cylinder head gasket…….so……..

I'm looking to get;
044 Fuel Pump – Part No.?
Metal Head Gasket & Head Bolts
Thermostat & Seal
Exhaust Manifold Gasket – Do I need an RS2 exhaust manifold gasket?
Inlet Manifold Gasket – Do I need an RS2 inlet manifold gasket?
Turbo to EM Gasket – Which gasket do I order?
Turbo to Down Pipe Gasket – Which gasket do I order?
Turbo to EM bolts
Turbo to Down Pipe bolts
Wastegate Gaskets – I’m using the AAN wastegate, I read that there is no such thing as a wastegate gasket, can anyone confirm this?
Cam Cover Gasket Kit – Do I need an ABY cam cover gasket kit?

Samco Hoses.....?
Bambridge Brackets
Porsche brake pads to fit those calipers


Hoffer reckons that it should be around 350-370bhp, do you have any other recommendations / advice, or do you think that everything else is strong enough to reliably cope with the upgrades?

Just to let you know guys, I've ordered;

Integrated Engineering conrods (rifle drilled),
044 fuel pump,
Complete cylinder head gasket set,
Head bolts, and
Water pump.

Once I've received the parts, the rebuild will begin!

I spoke to Richard (Hoffer) last night and he was saying that he was thinking I'd be better going for a K26/27 hybrid turbo instead of the RS2 hybrid, apparently Lloyd, Sonic, Avantus and Ross have them, and they're good for 430ish bhp.......sounds good to me!

Hi guys,

I'm looking at buying a set of hoses - samco's, roose, whatever as long as they're uprated.

Thing is I'm not 100% sure which kits will fit......

On the boost side, I'm assuming since I'm using ABY / ADU parts i'd be looking at a ABY / ADU boost kit.

On the cooling side though I'm using an Audi 90 radiator......is there a kit that I can buy that just fits or will I have to botch together some universal hoses?

Any help appreciated

After speaking to JP about conrods and engine balancing and the fact that I'm going to be around 400 bhp, I decided although I have the Integrated Engineering Conrods I'm not going to install them, it just seems like a lot more hassle when it's not really needed......

My mate has stripped down the engine and cleaned and painted everything up and partly assembled it, I'll let pictures do the talking...










And with the standard valve cover.....











Next job is prepping the bay while my mate cleans up the gearbox and gets it all together......
