rear diff exploded???

i was driving along minding to my own, when all of a sudden i came to a screeching halt!!!!

and i do not even understand why!!!!

some bearing have to block , and than stop one shaft, reduce all power to other side, and bang..

i do that most wk ends, varied between gearbox or rear diff. keeps me from crashing car while off the road. thats one well built mega quick car you got hats off to you

How many launches have you got on that diff? Was is healthy prior to explosion?

At least that is a cheaper repair.

Your not the 1st and won't be the last with the rear diff explosion, at least it didn't happen on the drag strip like it did to Audiman, always remember him being pushed by the wife and co whilst he was in the car

i have had PLENTY of 15psi launches on it... i think it may have wiggled partly unlocked and done.

Jamo, it WAS on the dragstrip. you must not have watched the movie.... it was real sticky laying down on the strip trying to sort it. had to put it on 4 dollies and push it back to the staging lane, as the center diff is welded and it wouldnt turn at all.

there we jacked it up, pulled the driveline (propshaft) and left the rear on dollies but put the front on the ground. pulled around the 4.2L A6, and towed it back to the pits. pulled it off the dollies and drove it into the trailer FWD style.

and now finished with the R&R.

made a lil something to make SURE it does not go partial lock again!
