MTM used an kkk26/27/29 to reach a 427bhp if I remember correctly, with some other mods like an exhaust system. The turbo with the 20v engine are the heart of the RSR, buy that turbo and you're almost there.
Gas flowed Head
Balanced engine
Increase compression from 9.0:1 to 9.3:1
High performance cams
Intake (short path)
Sport quattro intercooler
Exhaust manifold from early quattro s1 rally car
Special turbo;k26 turbine, k27 compressor housing
Motronic reprogrammed
Pressure sensor
Other mods???
Free flowing exhaust
1.38 bar boost
Giving 428bhp at 6400rpm, 358lb-ft at 2600rpm, 0-60 3.9s.
Would be great to see a 'real' dyno, not sure I can believe the torque figure there... 'real' figures always seem so much later than manufacturer claims. Just compare a stock RS2 dyno to Audi figures! Still, the 428hp is impressive and even if that torque figure was at 3600 it would still be very impressive.
I am sure the quote on the RSR specs is correct. However, since the compression ratio of a 3B or ABY is 9.3 from the factory, I doubt that the original journalist had the "Increase compression from 9.0:1 to 9.3:1" correct. However, with that big turbo, I would believe a DEcrease compression from 9.3:1 to 9.0:1.
But I could be wrong.

Another example where compression ratio was actually raised rather than lowered... Hmmm

This car came out as RS2 from MTM but when audi produced the RS2, MTM changed the name to RSR. All s2 3B engines and the early ABY had paper headgasket with 9.3:1 compression.
