RS2 -help to do it right the first time

    Hi experts
My RS2 is in the middel of a complete engine restoration/upgrading, and its now about to decide if I shall use the stock turbo or look for something better (more power would be nice) but I want no more lag - very importent! There must have been done some development there since 1994.

    Other upgrades done:
    Wagner IC
    Wagner exhaust manifold
    ported cyl head
    Rods from Aron
    adjust. cam gear
    3" downpipe

i will start this thread from the beginning, and more questions will come later on.
In june '07 I bought a RS2 in sweden, the car is from sept ´94 and had run 184.000 km, it was in original condition but had some small defects. The only tunning made was a homemade 3" exhaust with a removable race cat.
I have only used the car as a trackday toy, and becaurse of all the fun, the car have had with me (and probably also the previous owner) the engine is worn out.

Here is pictures from the first trackday in ´07, the rear bumper melted becaurse of an exhaurst defect, the car was eating lots of oil (from the crank ventilation), later on it lost power at low rpm (the WG was stoked open)

You either stick with KKK for direct replacement (and easily refit a stock turbo), in which case you can get a hybrid RS2 (same lag, 400hp) or K26/7 (3-400rpm extra lag, 450hp), or go with a newer BB turbo that will give you similar or earlier than RS2 with 450-500hp.

      Thanks for that answer
      1) what is the difference between a hybrid and stock RS2? Is it fitted with more modern turbine?
      2) Does the BB turbo fit direct on? Have you more details where to I buy, and learn more?

      Here comes more tackday pics

        Jonas .

In Sweden you have a company called PPF , they have the Precision turbos in stock , either BB or Standard Journal Bearing . Those turbos have the latest development and specs .
Remember the most important thing when you look for an upgrade turbo is to not only to swop the turbo and expect faster spool without not even touch the cams and head .

You wrote that you bought a adjustable cam gear ? on your stock RS2 cams there is minimal or even no adjustments to do .

I suggest you throw your RS2 cams and swop em with 7A cams ! My experiance with this setup stock RS2 turbo, stock head, 7A cams ,Stock cam gear, homefry sw , 1.9 bar wg spring, 4 bar btr ,3" exhaust = DYNO 307 HP and 512NM on hubs ! Full boost from 2900 RPM,

        GOOD LUCK.

I had full boost @ 1.8bar on mine from 3200, stock head and cams but 3" downpipe, wagner EM, Wagner IC, RS2 IM and stiffer WG spring.

I was not under the impression that 7A Exahust cam would give you less lag. I would just stick with the stock RS2 CAM.

You could talk to hoffer76 I think he does some hybrids of the RS2 turbo, perhaps he has something that will increase spool. Or you could talk to H. Daugbjerg (Scanturbo.dk) in Denmark and see if they have some suggestions.

034MS has some Garret turbo's with K26 housing. They would bolt on, but I guess you need some new silicone hoses and oil/water lines.

Not only Exhaust cam , need to swop both. Inlet cam is most important.

Anyway , full boost @ 3200 rpm is not bad for an old RS2

              Keep it up eh.

                @Jonas R
Daubjerg have already fixed my turbo, but they could only offer the same as stock.
I think the BB, that Ross suggested sounds interesting.

I have the cam gear from here http://www.rosten-performance.com/

(We are 2 different Jonas' here, Jonas R dont have an RS2 )

                Is it this BB? http://server.pure-pf.com/webshop/pp...d13b5ee752eec5

I have heard from PPF, the BB turbo don't fit, it needs this also http://server.pure-pf.com/webshop/pp...d13b5ee752eec5

So that is not an option, because I have the wagner evo manifold
