    Mid engine coupe quattro?

Eh.. well I am leaning towards doing it.

I bought this 20vNA short block a couple days ago and tore it down so I could easily mount the short block to the tranny and weld in brackets for engine mounts. Muradic acid is lovely.

I also am going to use this as a built bottom end for either the coupe S2 conversion I am working on or this project.

    Cheers

Good luck Josh, this will be quite the undertaking. You should speak with my friend with the syncro Corrado, because he is building a 944 driveline vr6 powered RWD Corrado now..

        Plans changed.

Seemingly this coupe is getting standalone and either a naturally aspirated 20v motor using a 3b/aby/or aan intake manifold, water manifold, and fuel rail setup, or it's getting a v8. Naturally aspirated 20v as a start while I get comfortable with standalone. Then big turbo setup.

Haven't decided yet but I have been sourcing parts for another 5 cylinder motor. Including a 3b throttle body and cable.

        Keeping busy in the states.

        Cheers

          Forgot to mention.

CV boot grease sucks the biggest doggy balls ever!

If you love your car take care of your boots.

The engine bay did not look that clean when I started. There is cv boot grease everywhere.

Glad to hear someone else is as busy as me here in the US. I'm not doing motor work yet (except for the occassional intake mani grinding and polishing)...I've been sorting out my suspension first. I'm having a custom 32mm sway bar made for the front, and i'll be putting a 22mm in the rear. Since I prefer tail-out handling, I may have a 24-25mm rear bar made, but I'll figure that out later. Also, I've been working on a triangular rear shock tower brace...but nothing too promising so far.

I think either set-up you are working on will be great. A V8 would also be great because it's a very light engine, and once you reach a certain HP, you won't be able to go any further. With a 20vt, you'll always know there are bigger and meaner turbos to add on until you reach that 600hp mark! I think you should focus on an RS2 hybrid turbo (034EFI) to get that low-end grunt and torque for daily driving. Either way, you car is going to be sweet....keep us posted.

                Hi joe

I like the idea of the weight distribution with the v8 but I am going to stick with 20v 5cylinder. Seemingly I have sourced:

                aan intake manifold
                aan fuel rail
                3b throttle body
3b throttle cable( but I don't think it's going to work now that I sourced the aan intake)

I have most of the swap figured out in my head.

Turbo? Most likely I am going to go with a non oem exhaust manifold.

I'll keep everyone posted because it's going to look alot different than most swaps if things work out.

                Cheers

Inspiration to do this next coupe quickly:

My working enviroment has completely changed now that I understand how to work on these cars. It's a great feeling to be able to just work and not have to read. It's awesome to not have to think for a while what's the solution to the problem.

                  Cheers

That's the beauty of working on these cars...everything is where you would expect it to be. I can get the front end off these cars in ~15 minutes now-a-days. Where are the Brocks on your CQ? Did you have any luck selling them yet?

                    Cheers!

They are located on the other coupe now: Seemingly since they didn't sell I used my friends fender roller and pulled the fenders quite a bit. They fit nicely now.

Hopefully when is all said and done the engine bay will be very user friendly on the new project. V-band clamps, minimal parts, etc.

                      Cheers

Yeah, I saw the pics of your fenders on AW...they looked great!
This past weekend, I changed my radiator and while I was in there, I pulled all of the A/C components, including the compressor (heavy ******) and put in a shorter serp belt. Everything is working great so far...and the extra weight off the front is an extra benefit. That cleaned up the engine bay a lot. I also did some rewiring that I've been meaning to get to...but I haven't finished yet....I need a new blinker/headlight stalk, as it's fried...but I still need to relay the headlights first so I don't fry the new one again!

I'm an accountant.... and doing a conversion too!

I obviously don't get on the s2forum enough and miss all of these good posts. Like panzerwagen said, when we get after these projects we go all the way!

I purchased Harrison Blackwood's coupe with 4 piston Brembos and 13" calipers, Coilovers, a roll cage, battery moved to boot and a few other mods so I am well on my way. Except, I see all these different 20v engines being built (Javad's especially) and keep wanting to immerse myself in learning about them and deciding what to build. For now I think I'm sticking with the 3B, but I will very soon have 2 extra NA 20v engines sitting around and an extra head NA head that has been flowed. So now I'm pondering boring a 20v NA block to 83mm...JE pistons...you know the rest and using this head, big turbo, blah blah blah... Of course, then I think, I should buy an AAN 20vt go EFI, or should I build up the 3B and change to ignition coils.

                              Just too many options.....
