I remember looking into this a little bit after a wrote off my coupe... I figured that suriviving that accident meant I was invincible and should put the quality to good use
As it happens, i realised that wasn't really what I wanted before I even started. I can't recall figures but chasing that last 10mph was the really hard part. I'm biased but I would want to do it in an Avant - more stable - but would need more power to overcome the higher drag coefficient.
On a stock gearbox you'd need to rev to 8,200rpm; by changing the 6th gear ratio you could do it with peak power around 7,000 IIRC. Stroker would be a good start, if I recall Doug had to get a custom bumper made when he was chasing 200mph in his Coupe, and 650hp?
I'm sure it could be done for alot less than 25k but I don't think you'd be repeating the feat too many times...AUDI - saving Dad's from minivans since 1994

Cheap option for 200mph gearing.
With A 225/40/18 tire at 7000rpm in 6th gear you will hit~174 mph.
If you use a DSY /EDU gearbox from the 2.7tt cars, they have a 0.68 ratio 6th gear
as oppose to the standard 0.73 with this ratio you will just about be at 200mph at 7500rpm, if you also then use a bigger rolling diameter tire for e.g. a 245/50/18 you will gain 10.2% on your speed for rpm. This will get you to 206 mph at 7000rpm.

i have looked into the 2.7 box as you can get an of the shelf part to lower 6th ratio from america as i was going to get an s4 but this came up and seemed like a better challenge with more variables in way of tuning. i would only want ti hit that speed once or twice then be able to de tune in order for me to enjoy car at weekends
meth injenction would be left on shelf for a needs must final option to eak out a bit more power so need a block that can take it.
i will be preping shell this winter for new paint and general upkeep underneath.Comment
