will there be a problem with strength of 2.2 block as i have seen people choose to build upon a 2.3 deisel block due to strength then this will raise questions of additional weight as that also is not my friend.

no, people use the 2.3 7A block or 2.5 diesel blocks simply for increased displacement, pretty much all the cast iron 5 cylinder blocks are bullet proof

ok so would i be corect to assume a 2.3 7a block would be cheaper than re boring my block not trying to cut costs just be able to put more money into other more vulnerable areas i want to have an extremly stable block so if have to push further she can take it i know i will only be on knife endge of complete destruction with my goal so i do not wish to cut corners

there is an issue with the 2.2 / 2.3 block you should use a girdle if your going for that power for continous abuse. For a daily driver it wouldn't be so much of an issue.

If you are on a budget then this ghetto stroker could be a way forward http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=54592

I think you actually need to sit down with an engine build and plan a way forward rather than asking here because there isn't a right and wrong way to do this and you will get conflicting ways to do things.

Aelred, Repo, Quattronutter, RWD19T, Doug_RS2 etc are the type of people to involve although that may cost money etc

I think given the OPs ambition, budget should not be a big consideration!
I think I would use a 2.2 block for maximum bore stability and maybe even use ductile liners like JP did on his stroker, and girdle it as Jamo says

If you are doing 83mm, get 7M-GTE pistons, BMW rods.
They can hold a 3076, and will be almost free

sorry havent managed to cross reference threads i assume with caution this is 550 hp but what torque as that is what i think i need as high in rev range as possible due to drag pls correct me if wrong

sorry missed new posts was reading i wish budget wasnt a factor but is

i will sit and pull through some off the threads linked as i can not plan a build without understanding capability and compatability of parts.

3076r is a baby turbo in the audi world in that even a stock bottom end can run it with the correct mapping

What you need to do is think about is whether or not your budget is adequate for what you want to achieve. IMHO you will need to throw £25-30k at a stock S2 to even think about going close to 200mph

the agreed budget with my partner is 20k over 5-7 years i am footing her uni bill for another year then she will finance the house and i can crack on properly

its not the speed that i will enjoy i could buy a busa or supra evan r8 in 5 years will be a possibility around the same level of expenditure.

im in for the challenge have to keep my brain going or i will crash and burn
