Freshly powdercoated subframe, wishbones, ARB, hubs and struts. New "sports" shocks and 40mm springs. New wheel bearings, drop links, ball joints and top mounts. Pollybushed wishbones, ARB and bambridge solid mount subframe. All mounting hardware gold zinc plated and new stainless nyloc's throught out

Fronts not quite 40mm but I think the original suspention had sagged and the new stuff needs to settle. Need to get the tracking sorted on Monday but it handles like its on rails! Little harsh but proper positive, eliminated the tugboat like body roll almost completely!

Excuse the filth, some rims needed now.

So this morning this greated me as I walked through my front door. Not a great mood setter for a Monday morning I can tell you.

Properly gutted after the recent time and effort I've invested in the old gal. Alas I wasn't going to bow down and let spineless, scumbag a'hole's, that go around doing this sort of thing, beat me and win!!!!

              Tom and polishing mop - 1. Fu*ktard - 0.

If you were properly looking or I pointed it out you'd still see the scratch, which is more of an impression in the base coat I think. It's on a panel that's been re lacquered at some point so I didn't wanna go crazy with the mop and burn through. I think the amount of wax I've been applying recently helped a little to haha.

a set of coupe quattro speedline wheels got dropped in my posession today....... For free

As you can see there's a reason they were a little on the cheap side, all of them are pretty shagged but I think I can make the work for me.

Had a quick go at polishing the lips to see if the corosion was going to be an issue.. It's look like its not

What method did you use to polish the lip up?

The allen key bits do come off as they are only stuck on from what I have seen.

They are also not any sort of metal AFAIK. Should be able to pull them out I believe, but will they remain in one piece? I doubt that.

I removed the flaking paint and the white powdery corosion with a brass wire wheel drill attachment. Then 250/400/800/1500 grit sand papers with wd40 by hand and then I used a cheap polishing wheel kit I brought from eBay a few years back. It has 3 wheels (course, med and fine) which i used on a drill with a couple of compounds and some lime powder. That little section took me about 15min at work whilst my boss wasn't looking so it's not crazy labour intensive as people make out.

The bolts I thought were plastic are actually alloy. I hammered a splined socket onto them and twisted them out without any problems. There not threaded in but have burrs on and are pressed in.

Well.... That's the end of an era. Almost 6 years of ownership and about 9 years of it being in the family. The coupe is now dead. Really going to miss that old girl.

That's very sad, guess it is just not worth repairing...?

On a lighter note if you want to sell your 6-spoke speedlines I may be interested
