Seeing as the S2 saloons were all B4 cars, shouldn't you start with a B4 saloon, i.e. a 93 Model year and newer 8C2 vehicle?

What about with the 5 cylinder NG 98kW engine or was that only front wheel drive (or cabriolet)?

                All the V6 (2.6 and 2.8) are B4 cars.

True but not all the 93-96 B4s are V6s.

If we are talking about a British car, the best car would be a B4 80 16v quattro (i believe the engine mounts are the same as a 5 cylinder) You could get B4 80 2.3E quattro abroard so thats the best but LHD only.
If you are looking for a car ive got a 80 2.6 quattro 1995

Best car will be the 80 quattro b4 2.3 ng, it has the engine mounts and the radiator mounts in the right place. The 80 competiton also has the engine mounts in the right place but you need to change the radiator mount. But i think the 80 competition is easier to find then the 80 quattro 2.3 ng

Also count the dash wiring.... If you install a 5 pot engine in a 4/6 pot base car the Speedo will not work correctly.

The rpms I mean, not sure about the speed.

Thats not a wiring issue, if you use clocks from an S2 or any 5 cylinder it will read fine.
