The wiring and downpipe are the hard part, the rest of it is easy and straight forward.

I'm surprised no one's started doing off the shelf downpipe's for these.

You might be worthwhile contacting bryflyingby on here as he's about to make a downpipe for his car and see if he will make two.

was just looking at this on fleabay, wouldn't fit i imagine, So is it a custom job that needs to be done then? I've paid Spink a deposit for the engine, so gonna try pick it up in January, in between gonna try and source anything else I'm gonna need!

If i was you I'd just drop in a BAM engine rather than start messing with a lesser 1.8 engine. Then you'd have 220+ hp right out of the box and headroom for more if you want it and no messing about. Otherwise for about 180hp it hardly worth the effort IMHO. Just My 2c

Bam engine sits the wrong way round normally so sump, pickup, manifold etc will need changed and there also internal waterpump engine and the mounts are possibly different.. Obviously not an iaaue if your making your own.
As for power my 1.8t (originally 150hp) made 275bhp and 310ftlb with a ebay cast manifold, garret t28 turbo and a few other easy to fit bits...

How much of your engine is there?

I dont have to buy a donor car really, I'm managing without another car at the moment, and I suppose the cheaper things work out the better
Complete engine, turbo, loom, ecu, various boost and coolant pipes, intercooler. Bought it from a known good seller on another forum I use as a great running circa 85k motor. Never fitted it myself to guarantee condition, as I say, I bought the S2 first

I'm just looking to make space so would take £150 for the lot if someone from here wanted it and could either collect or arrange their own courier.

Yeah that's the main reason I'm going for a AEB Engine, it seems the most straight forward fit, and I can upgrade turbo, intercooler, remap ecu ect ect.
Can I ask what cast manifold you bought, or what you put in to search on ebay? Also what other bits did you fit, or what other bits should I fit?

Thanks for the offer sidrick but thanks to Acidburn I've sourced a good Engine and ancillaries that is not very far away, so hopefully can now get things in motion

being the guy who pushes these motors most around here (i think), i personally would go for the newer internal water pump motor. if you were doing it in an MK1/2/3 VW, then AEB would be the one. but i "read there are factory 4cyl mounts over there on that side of the pond that can put this motor in your car. i just dont know what they are.

but, what they say is true about the oil pan and pump pick up tube. you can use the B5 A4 starter and flywheel/clutch, with either an 01A or 01E trans.

this AEB motor does have the large port head, though. that is a plus. but on the other hand, compared to an 06A motor, the AEB still has the intermediate shaft and shaft-driven oil pump. more rotating mass, more opportunity for problems.

i have run both in my CQ, and now have stayed with the 06A/internal water pump setup.

mine is a complete custom car, though. i built my own mounts and everything.

                      here, look at this thread.

I used a cast t2 flanged manifold off ebay. Just search cast 1.8t t2 manifold. There about £90 new. A 200sx S14 t28 turbo, c20let injectors and a golf vr6 maf. Im running a 3.25" downpipe and 3" exhaust as i had all the bends available and its also running an ebay large front mount intercooler. Its had sever death for 2 year now and all is fine :-D.
