Wired into the car today and all working well.

We made a tweak to the USB ports to allow iphone charging and added a power switch so that the power can be isolated to stop drain or run whilst the ignition is off.

It feels like a bit of a luxury having USB power ports in an 18 year old Audi

Interesting thanks - the OBDII library will be useful for integrating with cars newer than the S2

Nice little bit of code on there. I came across pyobdII a while back and quite a few projects for them on github too

Andy have you seen this? might make a nice addition to your data logger:

Cool be good to keep an eye on that... an integrated video capacity with external LCD and attached camera for recording would be nice.

Talking of which i need to finish the original aim with the ECU, Zeitronix and GPS data streams.

                    Using GPS data

                    Hi,

I came across this thread because you linked to my raspberry pi project using OBD2 data. I thought you might also be interested in logging GPS data.

                    See http://www.stuffaboutcode.com/2013/1...-data-map.html

Hopefully you will find it useful.

                        That's awesome cheers Mart!

I like the way you've done that with the images stitched together, quite simple yet highly effective, and i think that would work perfectly with displaying your location around UK circuits with a background image which was another aim.

This project looks amazing, I only joined this forums a few days ago after buying a C4 A100 2.5 tdi from a forum member, like many people i have a Pi but only used it for xbmc or something basic, so i will watch this this interest, I love old school VW Audi so will be keeping an eye on this tread .

i have owned many VAG vehicles ...
Biggest regret not buying the original Quattro Coupe i wanted....doh

looks to be aimed at newer (CAN-bus) cars

                              Hi there,
having played a little with a Raspberry Pi 2 myself, thought it would be nice to monitor something in the car, search this forum and Eureka! It's already done
                              Sonic, what's the progress?
And I see there's not much that can be done with a stock ecu, right?

Not much to do with a stock ecu, but I can update the ECU to send out a datastream.
I can also post sample coe on how to process this datastream.
                                I've already done all this...

For a car dash PC I have a ready solution - all you need is a Win 8 tablet.
