    OBD II is still slow...

If you want to have lots of gauges and quickly, the only way are factory logging protocols on newer ECU's.
On M2.3.2 the factory logging protocol sucks donkey balls so I wrote my own...

I'll be keeping an eye on this as there are also people working in a VEMS build to run on r-pi. I would not want to really tune on a carputer but I can think of some cool dashboard ideas and XBMC would be nice!

I have here too my Raspberry. With some time i will test my VEMS + Raspberry. It´s possible emulate windows in Rasperry that will be good.

Next experience is work with LCD Touch Screen that Raspberry can be support.

I think will be interest for us.

                    Hi Sonic,

All this is well over my head but it does look pretty cool! Anyway while I was searching for something else I came across these links and thought they might be of interest:

Logging data from Zeitronix seems to be working well

                      Code:
                      { afr: 13.8,
                        egt: 378,
                        rpm: 302,
                        boost: -19.6,
                        tps: 13,
                        user1: 3.019607843137255,
                        config1: 255,
                        config2: 253,
                        user2: 133,
                        user2config: 131,
                        lambda: 0.9387755102040817,
                        rpm_adj: 3052,
                        egt_f: false,
                        egt_c: true,
                        boost_psi: true,
                        boost_bar: false }

Interesting, does the Zeitronix have its own sensors or is it getting data from the ecu?

It has its own wb o2, manifold pressure and egt sensors, and gets rpm and tps from the ECU cables. Don't think IAT was added to user1, but it can be.

Power supply built... it has 2 DC converters in it just for future-proofing it as a usb power source in the car, with a couple of USB outputs.

I'm going to power the USB hub from it which i'll then use to power the pi and other usb devices. I'll hook it up to the car this weekend and test it out.

The box is a bit smaller than my iphone 4 and about twice as thick.

I'd love to integrate the RPi into a larger box along with an embedded GPS with external antenna, to create a proper "black box" for the car
