I don't get it why the stud sits lower when only the bottom threads needs to me shortened.

                Found some parts from storage.
Thuppu made these head stud washers for me like a year ago.

Tommisbillet crankshaft sprocket, made from MOC410 steel.

034Motorsport billet check valve, i have no idea why i have this

Also 5-spd 01E gearbox is going through a little service.
New synchronizing rings for first and second gear.
If i find correct hi-speed gears, i“m going to add sixth gear.

                  This build is looking good

You have to be good in puzzles when you have the guts to dismantle a gearbox like that

Because of the fact that the force of the piston is pushing on that surface when the conrod is angled. So with the tabs on the opposite side the bearing surface area is as big as possible to allow optimum oil film between bearing and journal.

Look at heavy duty diesel conrods, they have the split between cap and rod at an angle for maximum durability

Ontopic: Great build. Are you sure the 5-speed casing has the space for the 6th gear?

01E 5 and 6 speed casings are pretty much the same.

6-spd CGR with wide first gear has little bigger casing in the middle, but otherwise similar to other 6-spd.
5-spd has the same casing as other 6-speeds with normal first gear, it is just missing those two gear parts from the axle.

For example Kenax has done the 6-spd mod.

                        Few "headshots"

                        Exhaust ports look somewhat good.
I think there is no need to do DIY-porting.

Few cracks in 2, 3, and 4 but nothing critical.
Third is is clearly the worst, but i am not losing my sleep over that.

                            One of intake manifold ports:

                            And same port from head:

Head ports actually look rough, i think i am going to do something to them.

OEM clutch throw out bearing goes like this when you are using SRE pressure disc.

Plastic face goes boom, who cares. Metallic face is ok.
Only problem is that metal frame of the bearing is so thin, it just can“t take the force.
Then we have situations like this:

So we did some prototyping and breaking...

...and ended up with something like this one on the left, right one is 034Motorsport "heavy duty".
034M HD throw out bearing lasted under 5 thousand kilometers in 480hp 20vt 90q...

This is Alcon bearing with DIY billet frame.
First test piece is going to be installed soon.

                                Got something done in weekend.

Fellas disassembled and assembled one 01E gearbox with new main shaft, first gear and sychro rings.

For assemble pics, look those from down to up

Meanwhile i measured some piston ring clearances,

                                Top ring gaps: 0,365mm.
                                Second ring gaps: 0,55mm
Oil ring gaps are 0,45mm, when spec list says they should be minimum of 0,381mm.

Also i bought new engine mounts.
