Project overdue and over budget

Finally!!!
Owned this Ming blue ABY 1995 Coupe since Sept 2010.
SORN'D from 2012 (feb) til Dec 2013 in Milton Keynes- exported to SA with the family in January 2014.
RS2 parts collected but, the suspension was in dire need of attention!

Started stripping the rear subframe out two weeks ago. I'll let the photos tell the story:

Parts sandblasted to reveal the extent of work required:

Subframe sent to welder for repair and refurb:

Fabrication of new rear disc brake shields:

Sent the rear subframe for galvanising- giving the ol' girl a bit of bling.
Galvanising should keep Mr Rust away for longer than powder coating due to our new home being at the coast.

Collecting the rest of the rear suspension parts from the powder coating guys this evening- pictures to follow

Relocated to SA and bought the car with.
Long road ahead to get her back to her former glory.

Tom, galvanizing cost less than 10 quid...will leave it like that...same as a land rover series chassis!
Also allows me to locate any leaks from brake lines etc quick.

Im amazed how bad the subframe was, particularly given the first exterior pic of the car too. Great work!
