I didnt realise they had a bad rep for rusting. Ive often wondered how they compare, expected the handling to be much better on these compared the the relative antique S2's

The Rust is a worry. and all the protection kit on it sounds like it was used for autocross in a previous life. But you have a nice car.
I own a 9 but my S2 own me forever. The 9 does have lot better turn in than the S2 but it just doesnt have the character and whenever i pitchup a car events with the 9 people say go home and come back with the quattro.
I'm making the 400/400 (as called by the Evo guys.. wierd people). Forged internals with Standard Turbo. Looks like you have a lot of work cut out for you, but it will reward you in the end.

Rust is surface superficial.Present 80% in engine compartment.Maybe slots in the engine hood are responsable for water and moisture getting there?
Under is ok,and suspension parts/subframes are much better compared to most 2000 tear onwards cars.

More stuff has been removed, and here are some pictures with the rust, as I said, it's only superficial.
But I can't stand it and it has to be removed
The clutch is fine, I'm glad I don't have to buy a new oneAttached Files- photo 1.JPG (96.5 KB, 64 views)

Yea, thats not much rust at all
BTW, i have tried to interact with people on one or two other forums however the S2forum is made up of mature, technical petrolheads who add a lot better value and appreciation than any of the bar room talk you get on many of the other forums.
I understand this is not an S2 thread but i will look at as a thread about a bunch of S2 people talking about another projectThe Red Baron

A little update on the car, some other stuff has been removed from the engine bay, only to find more rust
I've also ordered some parts:
- OEM steering wheel with airbag;
- AC radiator + AC compressor + some pipes, I hope it will be enough to make the AC work;
- ABS pump + the ABS ECU (I think).
When we got the ABS pump down, we saw some dirt prints... like some other part was connected to it but now it is missing. It seems the plastic black box was missing
I hope that is enough to make the ABS work again
