So does that mean the journal bearings aren't water cooled and pressure-oiled like a K24-7000 or -7200?

Based on your initial comment where you said you want to improve the torque, I'd suggest a modern k24 turbo (like the newer Volvo one) and some water-methanol injection with a new tune and exhaust. Brakes would be a very good idea, as would a suspension refresh.

You should be able to do that for a fairly modest cost.

I would really recommend the Volvo turbo too, very useable road turbo.

Oil is the same but no water which means you should really let it cool before switching off the engine, or drive the last few miles off boost

                Hi,
                sorry, needed some days longer...

Here are some of the gear ratios:

                CBL (stock S4/S6 6speed): 3,5/ 1,889/ 1.32 / 1,034/ 0,857/ 0,73
                CMG (S4/S6 V8 6speed): 3,5/ 1,889/ 1.231/ 0,967/ 0,806/ 0,684
                DSY (S4 B5 Biturbo): 3,5/ 1,889/ 1.231/ 0,967/ 0,806/ 0,684
                FDP (RS4 B5 Biturbo): 3,5/ 1,889/ 1.32/ 1,034/ 0,806/ 0,684

Here you´ll find a list, alas it is very incomplete, but some ratios are there, and afaik there is a speed calculator, may that is interesting for you.

By the way...I overread it the days: Your K26 is from Porsche 944 turbo S- for sure?
then you are very lucky- maybe still not knowing it

I did not disassemble one and count- but all I read in www told me the numbers I posted. Including the list I linked above.

Old school says there is no replacement for displacement. Larger displacement means more torque. Time to build the stroker.

I have taken the CMG box apart, the ratios are the ones i listed, also DQT has the typical 2.5TDI ratios. IMO no point going for longer gears than CMG, except when you are doing long autobahn cruises. I tried living with DQT and it was not that good for normal up to 100km/h driving.

CHANGE the exost piping from turbo to the rear end.. with 3" or 3,5" with 2 pc of silencer... the engine will have the torque curv about 800 rpm earlyer, and you have the power to the top rpm...( or wen the fuel will lean out, when you have to small injektors...

                                I own a S4 B5 and many OEM brochures of S6, S8 and maybe S4 also.
On the brochure, if my memory works fine, the gear ratios should be present and I'm going to publish them soon.
For the S6, i'm planning to start searching a Volvo K24-7400 in the new year.
For now, just 300 kpa MAP sensor and remap.
