I've been planning this project since just before i went to Oz but it ain't all been plain sailing. I've only just recieved the car today, a week late. Picked up the engine yesterday, a week late and found out the engine is DBW and not the throttle cable type i was told it probably was. Also the wiring is.... well a mess.

Here's the loom, doesn't look too bad....

Dude, this is a great idea. Id love to do this too. There is an article in performance VW March 05 about this. Might be helpful. They used the 'plug and play' wiring loom from QPEng.com.

Yeah i've seen the article. Only problem is mine is DBW and i'm fitting the 1.8T box too. I need the pedal box from a 1.8T and master cylinder too. Also need the wiring for the pedal box and clocks.

As for the wiring loom, theirs is plug and play with their engine management and i wanna keep the stock ECU so Mihnea can work his magic

                      Cheers,

I'd love to put one of these into a mk1 with the rallye drivetrain, there is a little unassuming looking red one kicking about on steels Think id do a golf LS, early model and keep the exterior standard. Then watch the faces drop as i leave all sorts of exotic gear standing

Chris, looking good! Except for that damn harness...that sucks having it cut like that.

You may want to look at the inlet manifold from the higher power 1.8T variants. It has a throttle body on the other side so may help your packaging. Depends what you are doing with the MK2 radiator and fan assembly as it is quite bulky and can interfere with the intake plumbing...
