I've got a 1.3 radiator as its slightly thinner and the hoses fit to the 1.8T engine better. I can sort the radiator out around the intake plumbing. Engine is almost out now,post some more pics soon.

Quick update:

Got started yesterday stripping the car . Out with this 8v Lump.

By yesterday evening the engine was out and most of the engine bay cleaned

Started to snow so i rapped and went to the pub!!

I removed the old engine and box from the subframe and preped the subframe for the 1.8T engine to go onto. I used a G60 rear mount and put the rear mount bracket onto the 1.8T engine.

I offered the subframe upto the mount to see how it fitted and how the gearbox was gonna be mounted.

I modded the gearbox mount bracket to fit onto the standard MK2 mount and bolt onto the 1.8T gearbox.

Never realised how much there is to remove from the 1.8T engine that you don't need.

All in all its coming along well. Engine should be in tuesday by the latest. Just gotta do the cambelt and fit the new manifold and turbo when i get home from work tomorrow. Then its the pedal box and wiring

Hope it all goes well. Wanted it on the road for the garage meet but thats not gonna happen. Should be somewhere near next weekend.

I can probably help you out with the wiring as I can get schematics for most late VAG engines from work. Let me know what you need.

That would be great Ben, any help is much appeciated. I just need to wire up the MK4 clocks and the pedal box. I've got a basic wiring diagram of all the setup but could do with getting the wiring loom for that.

Great project, i'm on the lookout for a mk1 golf to do a similar conversion. I'll definately be watching this post closely!!
