That Rallye is stunning, if that's the original paint then it's in remarkable condition if the pic's are anything to go by, being an ex MK2 nut it's a car I've always lusted after but have never had the opportunity to acquire one

Glad you had a good day mate, like I said had I realised you were going to run your stock example I'd have definitely have come along.

Good on you for having a go though and 13.8 isn't a bad time at all, especially considering it was your first outing so to speak, good practice....

              Some more pictures:

The shinyness of the Rallye made it difficult to get a shot of the mint half leather interior

No such trouble with the engine bay

Anyway I should start from the beginning, the car park in the morning, already lots of people

              Shiny turbo'd mk1

Camber on that wheel makes it look like the wheel is falling off

A mk2 with some extra ground clearance

              Shiny RS3

Need some more room for those wheels?

              Turbo'd Corrado, I think...

Girly mk3 Golf, 10/10 for effort

              Shiny RS5

Where does the air filter go?

              Some very shiny engine bays

This XL Sport was interesting, a V2?? I like it.

What kind of a side view mirror is that?

              Specs

              Interesting Caddy

              Another easy breathing mk1

mk 1 Scirocco, can't be too many of these

              Old skool Audi

This was on the strip and was mental

              A Monster Truck

Lots of VAG variety on the track

Ah, the crazy 9 second, turbo'd, nitrous'd Scirocco. Interesting stick-on head lamps and grille...

A couple more mk1 Sciroccos, one of which a Storm next to a Corrado Storm

The noise this thing made grinding along the floor was just silly...

              Back to the car park...

              Nice

              There I am

Got my number, 247, for the strip

I've got some videos of a load of track runs, I'll stick them up on YouTube if there's a demand...

                Great photos. Thanks for posting.

On the Mk2 with the extra ground clearance, that is a Golf Country:

                "Golf Country
                Volkswagen Golf Country

There was also a version called Golf Country (3,000 cars), designed for light off-road driving. It had more suspension travel, four-wheel drive, bullbars (generally over a single headlight grille), a skid plate for protecting the engine area, and a spare wheel mounted externally on the back.

In Europe, it was offered with the acclaimed 114 bhp (85 kW) 1.8 8v petrol engine. There were also: 160 "Country Allround"; 558 " Country - Chrompaket" with Chrome bullbars and beige leather interior; and 50 "Country GTI" for VW-staff. The Golf Country was particularly popular in Alpine regions in central Europe."

                Rerfernce: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volksw...2#Golf_Country

                But you knew that.

I was there all weekend, was set up with my trade stand on the Saturday but it was very quiet so decided to just enjoy the show o the Sunday and did some runs in my S2. Managed a 13.7

Think with bit more practice I could have got the time down a bit more but was worried about killing the clutch.

Great selection of photo's Charlie, never seen a Golf Country on UK roads, I've always wondered how good they would be off road

Nice one for that, great shots, that motor was seriously quick. You made me feel so insignificant! What was your best time?? You certainly made a few runs!!

Me? No I haven't, I expect I was quite heavy on the day, had my laptop bag with me with bits and bobs, plus a full tank of fuel, I filled up just before turning up about 5 miles from the strip.
