Forgot to mention that baffle and breather pipe is complete.
And im virtually getting only a drop of oil in my catch can.
    Works wonders now!!!

Very good. Do you use that pipe as a drain to your catch tank or a vent? Are you using the block vent and the head too?

No im using it as a secondary breather as well as the stock location crank breather. Head breather has been blocked off.
I have the billet puck from iAbed and i have a small drain line back from my catch can to the lower point in the breather puck

Ok that's good news. Blocking or restricting the head breather seems very important.

so happy to report that i went to the drag strip last night and had 3 solid runs... and not a drop of oil in the overflow bottle! so baffle and breather setup works
Cheers dieseldes for the advice on the breather setup!!

Last night wasnt about good et times as i wasnt launching off the line.
I managed a best time of only 12 sec, however the most important to me was the 3 consistant 129-130mph runs

so its definately a 10 second bracket car with that mph, just need to get better tyres to hook up (as i was still spinning in second) and have a go at launching

            Might try again next week

just wanted to update that i have now received my manifold and housing after they both had been ceramic coated.

I went with Cerakote in matte black and the finish is soo good, that its a shame to use these parts.
              And its scratch resistant.

All up im very happy with the job.

Bit of a slow news week!(read couple of weeks)
Tuner has been prepping for jamboree in qld and didnt do much.
Fuel rail and lines have all been removed and ready for new lines.
Also the new turbo has been positioned and it just fits and clears the bonnet. [emoji51]

The 0.82 Tial rear housing looks tiny on the back compared to the old garrett housing.

Due to the proximity of the housing to the bonnet and side guard i think i will still be putting a turbo blanket on and also wrapping the exhaust downpipe just for piece of mind.
I love the look of the ceramic coat but still think better to be cautious

3.5 inch exhaust fits very snug.
Both the downpipe and screamer pipe have been sent off to get ceramic coated.
4 inch Active exhaust valve will be installed just before rear axle and will be boost operated for the street but will also have an override switch.
Either full open exhaust or quiet for the street.
I left it 3inch over the rear and with rear muffler to keep it quieter on the street

Fuel rail, pressure reg and all black braided fuel lines are done front to back. Just need to tidy up how they sit in the engine bay.

Hopefully get this thing back on the dyno saturday to tune up

That is extremely tight on the exhaust. Is the exhaust fixed in place near the subframe. Mine catches subframe sometimes with 3” downpipe.

                        extremely tight is an understatement!

but yes we fixed the bracket off higher to hold the exhaust from too much movement. Has a few mm clearance so should be ok.
Need to modify and refit the heat shield to the CV to protect it

Other than that no other apparent dramas yet

                          Here are some more pics

Position of 3.5 inch electronic cutoff valve.
3inch exhaust continues over the diff.

Nuke hi flow 10micron filter and black braided feed and return lines

Down pipe and screamer were mistakenly coated in chrome ceramic instead of black. Will have to do for now as race event is this friday. If i dont end up wrapping the downpipe then i will have them recoated at a later date, to keep up with the black theme in the engine bay

Learnt a hard lesson last night!
The only bolt that didnt even cross my mind to change out to an uprated one... was the cam wheel bolt!!

And it bit me in the ***

                            Sheared the bolt straight off!
I didnt hear any noises or clunks when it happened so im very much hoping minimal or no damage internally.

Best case scenario only a couple valves bent.

Worst case scenario quite a few more valves bent and/or snapped off causing head and piston damage.

Head is coming off tomorrow so i will keep you posted!

                              Hmm gets a little worse.
Pulled the valve cover off to inspect and found this. Thankfully the little piece that broke off was just sitting there.

Well as my motto goes, "if it breaks, then it was meant to be upgraded"

Ok outcome is better then i thought.
Only 2 bent intake valves and negligible marks on the piston in cyl #1.

Head is currently at machinist getting checked over and re tolerance. Just need to source 2 new intake valves and a camshaft bolt (which is proving the most difficult).

If i can get the bolt i can have it back running by the weekend.

                                Smile!
