I got my hands on a 3b engine. Mine is due to fail soon or late, i can feel it. :wacked: Probably all engines will face that destiny some day. Anyway........
So i want to share my project with you guys. This is how i got it.
Reinz gasket sets are:
02-29335-01 for the head
08-29178-01 for the block
Prices around 150 and 100e for those in here.
They are OEM and 2-3 times cheaper!
And Golf mk2 GTI 16v engine code KR piston rings are the same and easier to find.
Gap for 1st ring 25mm from head level is originally max 0.35mm and 1mm is the absolute maximum!
Jeffer: Pistons look quite new and shiny. Btw betnley disk will leave tomorrow , I didn't have time becouse of my little Benz trouble . Some 3-4 days to deliver max.
Cheers,
Vadim.
Vadim.
New engine (mechanical PKM head) , Alcon 332mm brakes , Pauter rods , Mahle pistons, GT30R , kw v2 sucpension , new exhaust. 608HP. For SALE !
Thanks for that info, what can I expect in that gasket set? Wich gaskets?
Yes I'm going to renew the big-end bearings and cranckshaft bearings. Did you have your crankshaft redone to adapt the oversized bearings? I need one oversize. And I wonder if there are better bearings than RS2 big-end bearings.

Jeffer

I used the standard size RS2 bearings. I've heard that some folks have used some diesel bearings but don't know more about that. Dunno if RS2 ones are available in other than standard size.
The sets include all except turbo gaskets (EM to turbo and turbo oil/water feed). So both crank end seals, cam end seal, valve stem seals and all...
Only one oil pan gasket, tho. VW transporter (FWD) 2.4 diesel (engine code AAB) use the same oil pan gasket so it's available cheap too.
ps. KR valve guides are the same too if you need to replace them.
brought my cylinderhead to some experts. They're going to replace the valve guides, mill out the valve seatings, put new valves in and flow it for me.
They are also going to hone the block, balance cranckshaft, do some things on the flywheel.
And For my EM project, will post soon some pictures of my home made tubular manifold. I'm now milling the flanges from 321 SS and got some nice tubes in SS. But I do not want to screw up 150 euros of steel :S, so first gonna make it in mild steel. But more of that soon.
Next weekend the engine, cranckshaft and head are back from the shop and I can assamble it again . Got all new bearings and seals (original), Pistonrings, 7a camshaft and much more goodies, Cant wait to hear that baby purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
