I would love to ask you to pass your unwanted ones on to me when you get engulfed by offers, but since these things seem to be as rare as RS2 FARB's, both of which make hens teeth look positively common, I suspect this ain't gonna happen

Good luck with your search, but if I were you, I would look at an alternative.

There seems to be 2 opposing thoughts on the mythical beast......

1. It is bigger somehow and therefore allows better airflow in and through, giving several more ponies.

2. Since the airbox lives in the same place on the same inner wing, it is identical in all dimensions to the S2, with the only difference being the diameter of the air intake pipe. Therefore, just mod your own box intake.

The choice is yours

The RS airbox is larger volume than the ABY in that the top half is higher.

Hi Jamo, please explain this as that is what I used to think, until the following question was asked of me.....

"How is the RS2 box larger when the base is bolted to the same inner wing and the upper touches the underside of the S2 bonnet?"

I have yet to see an S2 without the silver mesh pattern from the bonnet heat shield impressed on the top of the airbox. So unless the RS2 has a raised bonnet, there is the same room from inner wing to bonnet and also in the lateral dimension from inner wing to engine.

Please therefore explain (or better still photograph) the differences in dimensions, as if it really is the case, I will re start my hunt for one.

The photos are on the forum mate quite a few of them, the RS2 top half of the airbox is large than the ABY top half.

Still not sold on the RS2 being bigger.
Look at the lower halves of the two boxes
But who cares, the RS2 is better, otherwise Porsche wouldn't have changed it.

Pretty please, any chance of the diameter (bore and mouth) and length of the RS2 inlet pipe?

Is the RS2 airbox noticably noisier than the smaller S2 unit?

Oh, forgot to ask the damage (wallet that is) of a new RS2 unit, assuming you can find one.

It isnt the overall volume of the airbox that is different. The setup within the box is different. The RS2 airbox has a larger plenum area above the air filter and a much larger air intake horn into the air box.
