you should be able to find most of the current setups and what people have tried via the search function, the setup that newsh and others have are based around GD605 (EBC part) and ebc red stuff pads, go and look at www.ebcbrakesdirect.com
around £135 for a new rear setup

pagid fast road pads and drilled (GSF) 'forget the name' discs. Seen me fine for over 6 years (same set) They will crud up and need changing long before they actually wear out... The rears do so little work its not worth spending a massive amount on them IMO unless you are going to go for vented discs etc instead.

I am converting my car to V8 quattro rear calipers and rotors. They cost me very little to get the full kit build. 20 USD for calipers 66USD for the rotors shipped, and 130 for 4 SS flex lines for the car with 996 front calipers. The vented brakes are the biggest bang for the buck IMO. I also have a set of S8 carriers for when the time comes I need 300mm Rears

I know my brothers US spec CQ has ebc yellow stuff pads on cross drilled rotors and it stops ok, but nothing like the vented conversion with slotted drilled fronts and decent pads. Just my $.02.

                  Zimmerman - £43.50+VAT ea. (GSF P/no 62396EF I think). Linky

I have Pagid TQs (£29.50+VAT) at the moment with Zimmerman discs. I was told that they did not do fast raod rears . FRs are cheaper than the TQs!

No idea how they work as the 996s try and pull the back of the car off the ground on the standard springs!!!

waste of time putting drilled discs on the rear, new oem ones and decent pads will be fine, you actually want them to get hot to burn the moisture out, they don't do a lot so it's a good thing when they do to get the warm.

Iain it was purely cosmetic behind the old original 5 spoke alloys. Agreed there is zero performance advantage but equally they have worn nicely so cant complain really

From memory the V8 rotors (discs) and calipers are same as RR engined UR (269x20) - which means the hat height is all wrong for carriers from an RR or UrS4/S6. Are you getting some custom carriers made for this rear conversion ? Or am I utterly wrong on my assumption about hat height ?
