I lent him my ECU and it passed.

I agree, as Jas mentioned this happened to me a few years ago. I was unlucky and lucky at the same time, I didn't have my original chip but a mate had just bought exactly the same car and I nabbed his ECU for an hour or so.

MRC sorted the ECU no problems and as far as I remember it was a simple fix.
It's just not nice when your sitting there waiting for you pampered beast to fly through the MOT and the bloke sticks his head in and say's "failed on emissions mate"!

I know some centres won't bat an eyelid, however if your emissions are out with CAT's then somethings not quite right

Jas you paid good money for the chips, so changing back to standard might solve your problem but does leave you a few quid out of pocket

Never had any problems with emissions on homefries. MRC must have dabbled with that part of the maps at some point and have allowed those tweaks to get into wider circulation. Oh dear...

I agree. Tell Doug, something's obviously gone wrong somewhere and MrC needs to know.

Although it's strange, I've run MRC chips for years without any trouble passing an emissions test, and that's without cats too.

You know what Steve, I'm probably going to leave it standard. Yes of course more boost gives the car more power and that's nice on an overtake or a squirt here and there, but it's only ever "here and there" for me. I spend 95% of my driving time behind some hairy arse lorry driver doing 56mph in the fast lane passing another equally hairy bloke doing 55mph in his.
What I'm getting at, it's a daily driver and as such it's off boost driveablility (sp) is ultimately more user friendly on the standard maps than the tweaked ones. This goes for all four different sets of chips I've so far had in the car.
For the time I get to have fun up in the dales near me, I can have just as much of a great time at 230bhp as I can at 270/280bhp.
          I must be getting old

Cheers Ben, yeah, I'm out of pocket to the tune of £250, but what can I do?
Robert really did try and get the CO down at the original test, The higher the revs, the hotter the cat gets and the lower the CO content is. Just wouldn't go below 0.49 at the upper limit of 3000rpm for a good 5 minutes and stayed like that at the required test speed of 2500rpm or therre abouts .
Felt sorry for the poor car being revved like that for what seemed like an age. My fan was going bonkers

Yup, agree 100% chaps. I've emailed MRC to let them know of the problem I've had.
