2 plugs, one big 2 pin one and a small white one with about 10 tiny pins.

Yeah? How do you know whats broken? What if its one of the chips?

its nearly always the graphite parts in the pump which break up,you can remove the pump and replace with any vag pump as they are all pretty much the same

Actually, to my surprise, the pump seems perfect, its the electronics I think. Or there's a broken wire in the loom somewhere..
