The problem i am having is a very thirsty engine. So thirsty that it will consume about 70 litres of gasoline in about 500km with no more than 120km/h on the speedo. My engineer said that its the distributor. And i really dont know a lot about engines so...
Agree with newsh. KE III Jetronic is usually very reliable. Take it to a Bosch specialist and get it checked properly. Could be something simple like a duff Lambda probe ....
My tech said that the lamda and fuel pressure as well as the fuel pressure regulator are in top shape. He insists its the Distributor. To be honest i have been hearing ticking sounds from it lately...
One question tho... Will the regulator from an NG engine fit onto a 7A aswell? I am thinking of swapping engines in the near future.
That is the list of the engine components of the Audi Coupe of the year '89. If you register and you go to Fuel Distributor that is half way down the list it will show you this particular pic.
p.s. Oops just saw this refers to a 4-cylinder engine type ABK. -.- I cant seem to find the part number anywhere on the internet. If someone has a site with a database of Audi parts, please post it here.
I didn't know the mechanical injection systems used a lamda still my ur is an 84 so early K-Jetronic..
Looking at your pic in the first post it looks like the unit has a fuel frequency valve mixture control, have you checked the wiring to that? it should make a small buzzing sound when its working properly.
Pete at White Cottage Quattros had my metering unit overhauled a few years back, I'll try and find the details of where it was done.
Later engines ( mine was 1990 90 quattro NG) had closed loop mixture control with lambda and ECU ( but separate ignition control ). Had the most inaccessible air filter Ive ever encountered - has this been checked ? - the ECU can only manage within certain tolerances.........
