I have a VR6 and you cant beat the engine note even when you arnt going that fast it sounds great. I average 25 mpg round town in ours and 30 on the motorway so its much better on fuel the my 2.7t a6. Its also great fun to drive.

I'd love a Corrado but not up for a G60 as I've got the S2 to drink what little spare money I have, 16v or VR6 is very tempting but they're rare and standard or tastefully modified ones are hard to find for my budget.
GTI6 in Astor grey has been for sale just up in Glozzer but timing is out... got a car to sell first.Last edited by Rusty; 26 December 2009, 23:03.Cheers'en, AndyC

Yep, the G60 Corrado is a potentially expensive option, however I've had both the G60 and VR6 variants and I'd take the G60 over the the VR6 any day. Far better balanced and infinity more tunable. My LHD, 200 BHP G60 cost me £2300 in 2002 (it pised all over my standard 1996 VR6), I sold it five years latter for £2.5K minus the leather electric Recaros which I sold for £800, wish I'd kept them as they'd now as they'd be well at home in my S2, oh well.
With your budget I'd go for as tidy MKII 16V as I could afford.1990 B3 2.0 80 quattro.

Yeah just a little more to go wrongI'd say that if it was my money I'd buy a rallye as it's going to hold it's money better, would only get a gti if it dirt cheap. As for the extra comforts - remember it's french, it's just more to go wrong
Rallyes only came in Red or white as standard, black was available as an option.
My 6 was Nile Blue, but always wished I'd bought an Astor Grey one (or a rallye!
)
And right you are, i couldn't think of any other colours than red white and black for the rallye, not seen many black ones either! Not seen many on the road period.
About 2 years ago i got offered a clean looking 106 gti on a T or V plate for about 700 pounds... It would have needed a head gasket, and i think i would have got it for a little cheaper, had it not been for the insurance, bit of a no no considering i was still 17at the time
And the VR6's sound awesome, but i've heard Mk2 16v's sound similar... A cone filter should see you a similar soundtrack i suspect..F I R E U P T H E Q U A T T R O
