My S6 being a run out model came in full S6+ livery with all the chrome trim being black, blue alcantara interior etc, unfortunatelly it's had a mild front ender at one point in it's live and the grill got replaced with a nasty chrome one which you can buy for £40 vs £120 for the black one. They are still available new if you can swallow the price.UrS6 Stroker + HTA3586 =

alright JP,i was quoted £147+vat a few minutes ago and they are on back order. On the otherhand the bumper grills are dirt cheap and in stockComment

I'm confused - what's the difference between the £147+VAT grille and taking off the orginal one and spraying the chrome surround with black satin?Comment

Being quoted 147+vat quid and me actually paying that for one are 2 different things, not a chance.
I guess i will be spraying

i'd also like to dechrome the window surrounds using the same method - is there an easy way of doing it? couldn't find any threads on here..Comment

never seen anything about it myself, you must have an early S6 then?
I binned a avant shell a few weeks back with all those bits still on as they looked like they would be a ballache to take off

I originally painted my S4 surround with an industrial black primer for heavy trucks and then baked it, which worked very well. I bought my first S6+ grill without actually seeing one up close and was surprised to find that its surround was actually gloss black.
All the S4s came with black trim. The chrome trim reared its ugly head when the S6 was introduced. Only the S6+ had blacked out trim It also had glossy B-pillar covers. Got those too

All four S6s(AAN) i have had have been 96/97 models and all came with the black bits allround with the nice steering wheels and the + alloys, not sure if they were optioned like that or that audi were trying to sell off the last of them with the nicer spec
thanks for the offer of the grill by the wayComment

That's interesting - was it easy to get the chrome surround off the car and back in again? I had a quick look but couldn't easily see the best way of doing it...I originally painted my S4 surround with an industrial black primer for heavy trucks and then baked it, which worked very well.
