    Long shot - Wanted - Clio 172/182

As the title says, I'm sure it's a long shot but then this forum has very rarely disappointed when it comes to a least a sniff, afterall, I sold my BMW through here and not the BMW forum (unfriendly bunch of so-and-sos!).

Anyway, I'm after a decent 172 or early 182 with the cup suspension. Budget is about £3500 max but I'll stretch a little for the right car. I don't want a project and I'm not too keen on modificiations, for reasons of insurance... Exhausts are fine, as long as they're not loud.

    Any links greatfully received.

My GF's brother has a 182 with 888s, DS2500s, strut braces and some as yet unfitted Gaz coilovers - hasn't been driven on the road for about 3 years, he only tracks it at the minute, i know he was after a change I'll mention it to him

What about this one? Plenty of money to play with then to get it to your spec

Cheers chaps but I'm after a standard car that needs minimal money spending on it so I can concentrate my efforts on the S2 and keep the insurance vaguely sensible

Cliosport.net is a very useful site if you are not aware of it already..

Also, bare in mind that a mildly modified Clio may not cost any more to insure than a standard model if you speak to the right insurers..

I've been on that site, many thanks for the heads up though.

Unfortunately, having spoken at length to one of your very helpful staff yesterday, it turns out that a mildly modified clio (exhaust, lowered, remap) was 50-60% more to insure than a standard one, one with a SS exhaust and lowering was 25-35% more and even just the addition of a stainless exhaust, that nearly all Clios have due to OE one being made of Dairylea, was 10-20% more. So, as most of the cars on the market are mildly modified in some way and I can't justify paying any more for the insurance than a standard car, I'm very much limited as to what I can get at the mo.

Saw a brilliant 172 today, owned by an ex colleague of mine. Anyway, time to do some negotiating
