    Anyone got an MFTS?

    Hi Guys
As per title, i'm after an MTFS for a 3B.
My coolant temp gauge does not move at all so was thinking this may resolve it (Fan does kick in, and have replaced thermostat a while back)

Does your car boost properly? The MFTS also has a boost cut feature, so if it's not boosting properly, then it's knackered, if not then it could still just be the temp sensor part...

Ahh of course, it does indeed lack boost. To the point even the missus has noticed!

That's the badger then. I think quattro corner can supply these or search on here for a bosch, behr or meyle part number.

If you don't have a boost gauge then unplug the N75 electrical plug and if the performance is not significanly lower, then you have a knackered MFTS.

And check the wiring to it! The rubber boot is prone to filling with condensation and corrosion.

From personal experience the Bosch or Behr part is good, but avoid the Meyle P.O.S. like the plague

I bought 2 new Meyle MFTS's and both were many degrees off spec. and unusable

Have been so busy with work recently to be able to even post this let alone get it sorted.
But the pic is what its like now, touched it with a long socket bar and the rubber is rotten and squishy leaking fluid.
When engine is cold, will I have to drain the coolant to remove this sensor? And can i do it in situ or do I have to remove a load of other stuff. Apologies for the noob questions, computers are my game

Because it is up high you can get away with partially draining the coolant. Access is tricky and you ideally need a large socket, might be 32mm from memory, or a good adjustable spanner spanner to undo it. Unplug the wiring plug and then unscrew it. The new one screws straight back in again. A word of warning, some of the newer 4 pin versions read high. My normal running temp is now two notches over 90 deg, whereas it was two notches under on the old one....

                  Cheers,

I think the deep socket you'll need is a 29mm not a 32mm as someone mentioned...

Can you confirm the socket size Sidrick, I've measured my MFTS again but I'm still not 100% sure what size socket is needed I know it's not a 32mm..Cheers Condor
