g40 cam sensor aan

Last time I looked these were well over £100 from the Dealer.

I think Ive got the same problem. Fuel is getting to the plugs but no spark. I'm hoping just the crank sensor needs a clean but deep down I got a feeling its going to need the cam sensor

Sal, if you're running standard Motronic setup then you would not get fuel if the cam position sensor was not giving a signal, I would suspect a fuse or relay, try changing the fuel pump relay for a known good one.

Surely the fuel pump relay would have no effect on spark? I'm getting fuel to the cylinders so I doubt it will be the fuel pump relay?

Yeah, I might be wrong about the FP relay but it does feed more than just the pump.

While the fuel pump relay is still energized with a failed G40, the ECU will not fire the ignition or the injectors because it needs both the G40 and the G4 crank sensor signals to do so.

So in other words, if you havent got a signal from the cam position sensor then you shouldn't get fuel as the injectors are not powered. Looking at the circuit diagram I'm actually now wondering if this is correct.

OK, so I think I'll start by giving the g4 a clean

I can hear the fuel pump working but can't smell petrol so I dont think I've got injection. I've ordered a hkz101 from tinterweb so that's me done until then. I'm not paying for a bracket as I have one already

Got my car started. Changed the crank sensors first, no joy so swapped the cam sensor and it fired up straight away.
I reckon you've got the same prob Bern
