    Heated seat switches

After two heated seat switches for my 80 - the loom I got with switches from Stigeris appears to have both switches DOA and upon inspection are burnt out inside

Does your loom have relays or not? Put a pic up of the switches you need, there are 2 types. I'll have a look.

This is the loom - I think the relay is the central box (are the metal boxes the relays?)

I am not at home at the moment, but i'll get numbers later

I think those metal boxes are thermo fuses, this would mean the relays are in the switches, await a second (more knowledgeable) opinion though!

I just opened up a duff switch and its smells horribly burnt... not saying these are the right switches though, maybe I was supplied the wrong ones?

Part number is 893 963 563 - here are the pics...

They're the early type, later ones with built in relays are longer.

so does that mean I have the wrong switches, there is no relay and hence the burnout?

It appears you have later spec loom (i.e., no relay socket). So yes, I would say burnout is because a high current has passed through the switches which should be handled by the switching relay.

                  yes you'r right.
switches are old type, the loom is new.
by the way the loom is from c4/100/urs4/urs6. but with some play you can install it to b3/b4.

People need to be 'red flagged' for selling stuff they know is duff, rather than shifting it on unannounced.

Not saying anything about this seller, but just in general.

                    Back on topic.
