WANTED: Pair of rear calipers, CQ20V

    Chaps,

Looking for a reasonable condition set of rear calipers, to refurb and then replace what I have fitted, as it is a daily driver I can't afford the downtime of getting them sent away and refurbed while it is on axle stands.

I think they are part nos (left/right):

    853615423AX

    853615424AX

I expect some of you big-brake conversionists have some kicking about on a shelf somewhere

    Cheers,

    Peter.

I thought all 20v cars used the 38mm piston calipers. those part numbers are 36mm version with the 12mm hex drive

Honestly I am not sure, I used a parts catalogue to look them up, so could be wrong?

Your partnumbers requested are correct and they are 38mm. I could offer you a set of calipers if you consider postage from Russia.

All B3 quattros (saloons and coupes) and the S2 coupes have the same rear calipers in 38mm.

I think best way would be buying pliers something like this, get 2x empty pistons, 2x repair sets and DIY.

                        http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172194485957

3-4h maybe for a first timer. Instructions can be found in google.

Used calipers can go bad anytime. You don't know when they been restored/cleaned last time.

One more thing. You will need extra piston with guts. Have to dismantle it and cut off "screw thing" that will help later to do actual repair. Think I have picture how to use it somewhere...

That is a good guide, thank you ! My plan is to rebuild while I continue to drive the car.

Have rebuilt calipers before, and actually had these ones apart a little too, but going whole hog this time.

I have an electrolysis tank ready to go as well, so they should look shiny by the end of things
