Since you are not going to tune it yourself anyway, the car is only going to be as good as the tuner tuning it, does not matter what ECU they are using. Better a well tuned car on megasquirt than a car tuned by an idiot on Motec.

I don't think YOU need to know anything about programmable units. You bring the car there, they do the job, you get back running car.
If you want after you can learn, if you need to improve cold start or similar, but it should be a relatively painless experience if that person is any good.
thanks, you would surely be able to tune my motronic unit to me setup, said by Aritz, you made the adjustment of your car in Spain and he is very happy, I am sad because I honestly do not have confidence that in Spain I make my adjustment correctly nor with a programmable unit and less with motronic ☹️

Yes, but unless you want to bring your car to me, there is not really a good way I can help you...
Because of this my recommendation to find a good specialist and follow their recommended choice of control unit...

I mean I can sell you an ecumaster ECU with a basemap, but then it needs to go on a dyno anyway after that ...

Mark from Auto Mark is doing better job that you are and he is still a fantastic and kind person .maybe you don't know that but the fact that you have got some knowledge don't means that you have to be cocky.
maybe prj is "raw" but i prefer some be strait forward and tell me what he think then smile all day -be politically correct- take my money and at the end....
He has a great knowledge, a good heart. He always gave hints where to check things when only a very few could. And then, he shared all those info.......

after that basic adjustment it would be necessary to fine tune and that would have to be done by a person who knows the adjustment, and I have the same problem, where are you? and what price could I give for the adjustment?

I bought my tuning kit from Ultimut in Germany they send me : injectors, fuel pump , fpr, Westgate spring, 2 remaped chips, map sensor, and a tiny resistor to change on the ecu. The boost set on 2.3 bar and its work perfectly ime driving the car dayli and no issue.

Because anything producing any decent power will:
                    a) Max out the maf
                    b) Tear the wire in it

Anything using the old MAF is a joke, as is tuning highly modified cars by mail.

Do what you want, you have been warned.

Dimitri, would you entertain the idea of someone flying you in to do mapping? Obviously they would pay you for your time, flights, hotel etc

Not really, because I'd lose money doing that.
All the time I spend going somewhere, I could be tuning cars.

but you keep tuning in motronic? or do you only do work in reprogrammable units?

What about if there was a few cars to do rather than just one?

All of the tuners for the factory motronic here
stateside say they have no problem tuning
remotely. Are you saying they’re liars? The
remote tuned cars may not be world record
holders but I know a few making 400+ whp.
Marc @ EFI Express among others here can
tune maf-less on the factory ecu. He even said
he can program launch control and other features
on the stone age motronic box.

Is the old factory ecu ideal for monster builds
of course not but for more mild builds and people
still on stock internals looking to keep costs down
I think it’s a decent option to stick with it.

For people here in FL the go to Ecu is haltech.
The most highly regarded haltech tuner is down
here in South Florida. He tunes the USP vr6t
                                b5 s4. Runs 8.6 in the 1/4 mile.
