    Agreed on both counts.

Yep, but I had to develop the "big" version first
Robustness of HFM vs MAF plays better with big power engines - like in excess of 400-420bhp ish... needing custom coversions of course and the possibility of going with larger housings as well.
Yes, but for those engines they will need a bigger MAF and a custom tune, custom intake etc.
The bolt-in MAF would max out around the same flow as the stock MAF, and it would run on AAN software, so it'd be impossible to map properly for higher power levels (last cell tuning all over again).

For that I'd have the larger MAF conversion, but it's not something that I could/would ever sell as a kit (needs custom dyno tuning, as you said).

    Stock ECU MAF replacement project

Since the stock MAF is getting more expensive all the time (270 EUR at the time of writing), I thought perhaps it could be a good idea to make a MAF conversion kit for standard cars.

    The kit would consist of:
1x Bolt-in Hot-Film MAF, which will fit directly instead of the stock item without modifications to intake.
    2x ECU Chips
    1x Connector and fittings
    1x Instructions

The fitting would mean that the connector would have to be changed.
The chips would be standard good Stage 1 software for a stock car. 1.4 bar boost with good timing.

The price I am aiming for is ideally about the price of the MAF at the dealer. So around 300-350 EUR.
If the hot-film MAF ever breaks, then it would be possible to replace it for around 100EUR at the dealer with an exchange part.
The hot-film MAF is more reliable, it is possible to clean it with Q-tip and alcohol and it also gives less flow restriction.

Now, I am not sure if there would be much interest in this, but I thought I'd throw this up here.
The kit would be ABY/AAN (possibly ADU) only. The 3B ecu is too slow to deal with the hot-film MAF.
