    Hi Henka,

I have just fitted Audi A8 314x30 Zimmermans, which I purchased from GSF (http://www.gsfcarparts.com/) for £79.84 (inc P&P)

They are not drilled or grooved as this is a waste of time unless the car is used only on track days.....the difference in size and therefore thermal capacity between the standard S2 setup and the monoblock with A8 discs conversion is vast.

    Cheers n

Yeah, and Brembo recommend you put the pads in dry too, like that works...

Was that price per pair or each. Just checked the price with Euro Car Parts, they wanted £52 plus vat each for ATE discs the same size. Have you got a part number for the GSF ones?

            Cheers

I paid that for 323mm coz we used an Audi owners club card for 10% discount. CheeRS JASON and Paul, and then I sold my set to Johnny
Don't know the part number, just asked for A8 discs - 2 sets @ 314mm and 2 sets @323mm and those guys seem to know more than the parts department at Gilders in Sheffield when it comes to S2 bitz, they were there the next day!

I got a set of Brembo A8 fronts (314mm) from GSF in Hitchin. Pair cost £70 .

Then got my mate to machine 12 slots in them, & have just dropped them off to be surface treated.

Total spend (inc. cost of discs) - £100 .

I ordered a pair of slotted Zimmermans just yesterday. Will be here in a week. Can't believe the prices you quote, bone stock junk discs cost €100 a pop here in Sweden. I'm not even going to say what they cost. I'll blame it on our beloved taxes and expensive shipping.

What you loose in your high Taxes, & shipping, you make in the ability to have a country full of beautiful women. Man, the thought on those tall, tanned, blonde stunners is enough to make me happy to pay over the odds for S2 parts.

Anyway, why do you guys over there want to make your cars quicker, you wilkl have less time to clock the women folk.

                    Imran.

Not sure what to do at the moment. I have separate rotors and alloy bells on my car at the moment. Trouble is, a new set of rotors is looking like over £300. Any suggestions as to where I can get cheaper rotors?

Have you got a GSF part number for the Brembos? Also, what surface treatment sre you using? I'm wondering if that may be something to do with the problems I have with my rotors. I had them skimmed but then fitted them back on the car, no treatment. Now the inner sides of the rotors have rusted (see my post "Disc Problems").

                      Cheers

                        Carriers, calipers, hub etc?

                          Boxster "S" Calipers
RS2 Carriers (I believe, never actually checked, but I know they have Audi part no's stamped on them)
                          314mm x 28mm cross drilled AP rotors (PCD 177.8)
                          Custom alloy bells.

They car already had Porsche 928 calipers, the carriers and bells when I bought it. I replaced the rotors and calipers myself. The discs were replaced 2 years ago. They were then skimmed when I fitted the Boxster "S" calipers 9 months ago.

                            Alistair,

From an ease of replacement and cost factor, I would consider either of the discs readily available, the 323 or the 314. If you have RS2 brackets and the Boxster S calipers then you will be duplicating a well tried and trusted combination.
On the down side you will be sacrifacing a bit of weight and bling!
Evidently there is a problem with your discs and the replacements are expensive. Looks as though you could wear out at least six "normal" pairs of discs for the cost of replacement AP's.

I agree. I wouldn't go for cross drilled again, it was just that I got them as a clearance of stock. I was in Euro Car Parts the other day and I looked at some A8 discs. They did seem significantly heavier than mine, but having said that, mine are 28mm not 30mm and £200 is a lot of money.
I take it that the hub hole in the disc is the correct size for the S2 hub and that the disc offset is correct for the Boxster "S" calipers with RS2 carriers setup. Can someone confirm that?

With the setup as it is, the pad runs right up to the outer edge of the disc. Why would you fit a 323mm disc? Surely this would mean that 4.5mm of the outside edge of the disc is not being used and therefore it is just excess weight.

                                Alistair,

You may have to search for some threads regarding fitment of these discs. Primarily, it seems that wheel choice, 16 or 17 inch, is the deciding factor.
I believe you may need to space the carrier inboard slightly with some washers. If you go for the 323's, you may also need to space the caliper radially out.
The critical thing is to ensure the pads sweep the outside of the disc for maxium effect.
In terms of mass those discs weigh @10kg! However, they are relatively cheap and available on nearly every street corner from a variety of suppliers!
Why not start a new thread asking for others input!
