    Droning noise from brakes?

I'm getting a droning from the front brakes (996 monoblocks) which goes as soon as I touch the pedal and comes back again soon after I release it, deffo the fronts as the handbrake doesn't change anything. It comes on after a few miles of driving and is not particularly speed dependant. Any ideas as to what might be causing it? Only thing I can think of to try is to take the pads out and chamfer the edges with a file.
I've heard it before but forgot about it, but it was really quite loud tonight.

Take the pads out and clean the calipers.

Is it only after the brakes get warm? I had that, and popping the pistons out and cleaning them solved all the noise problems.

Yes, when they get warm. I'll have to strip and clean them. Ta.

I've ordered the EBC Reds so I'll do the whole job as one.

Newsh how much were the reds? also did you have to buy the pad backing plates, if so where did you source them from (the ones which stick to the back of the pads and then locate in each piston). I'm about to mount my 996's this weekend hopefully on 323x30's...

Reds were about 90 quid from ebc brakes direct. I havent bought new backing plates this time, didn't think I'd need to.. Last set I think I got from Design 911.

You can see the shims in this pic, thats all I used the black strip with 2 round bits on.
