    Porsche 996 pads

I need to replace the front pads in my 996 C2 (blacks) anyone got any suggestions?

I've used the Textars and know they brake well yet are a dusty pad. Any other recommends and where to buy them?

    Cheers

Mark - seriously the Ferodos are a major improvement and to my mind worth the money - you've spent all that cash on your pride and joy, worth spending the extra on the very mission critical elements like brakes I'd say...

They seem to last very well as well though, the wear rate on the pad and the disc is better than either the stock, or either of the EBC reds and greens that I've dabbled with.

Thats all well, but the textars are fine at £60 but a little dusty. They brake well either hot of cold and I can have nearly 3 sets for the price of the DS's. I tested some Hawk fast road pads, what a pile of crap. Hard braking into a second roundabout caused them to light up. Not for me.

Always found the Textars to be very suitable for all road conversions I have done, although I have known of a set melt on the track but the disc proved more than up to the job.

Forget the EBC, go for Mintex or Ferodo

They are dusty, but then it easily washes off.
If they are good enough to come standard in the 996's, then they are good enough for me.

I agree on those hawk pads though Mark, as you know, mine came out pretty quick after seeing what they were doing to the disc surface

Check what pads you have, and check what state your fluid is in. These calipers are fantastic if everything has been done correctly. Also check the state of your rears.

ds2500's are a great pad but they are pretty dusty and to be honest I'd imagine the textars are probably absolutely fine unless u are going to hammer it round a circuit. I just figured that for the odd track day it was worth having the pad to deal with it and they work brilliantly hot or cold - genuinely impressed given the cost/hype...

Will a Porsche d/ship stock Textars or some other brand of pads ? EBC maybe ?
I need new pads for my 996 conversion and I really don't know which I should go for...

                            Suggestions anyone ?

                            Take care and

Textar is the original manufacturer for Porsche's 996 standard pad. Just don't buy it from Porsche.
