Brake bell or hat (as our American cousins call them) are the centre section of a 2 piece brake disc (rotor see above). The are either made out of aluminium or steel.
The benefits of a 2 piece disc are that they are less prone to warping than a 1 piece disc and are lighter (if the aluminium bell is used) so they reduce unsprung weight which in turn aids handling.

Can anyone tell me where to get a set of these anti vibration pads please?

My 996 kit did not come with them and my brakes are extremely noisy. My thoughts are that it is a wheel bearing causing the noise but becuase so many people have had vibration problems with their brake upgrades I'm also wondering if it could be attributed to not having these in place.

I got mine from a porsche dealershit - not cheap though!

I have a noise that i thought could be a wheel bearing, replaced it, have the dampening shims and its still there.

                          NOPE, that is wrong! BTDT!

The standard RS2 caliper pistons are closer together than on the 996 mono's so the RS2 anti-vibration pads will not fit...BTDT and still have the pads in a box somewhere

If you have an S2 with 996 calipers, you will need to buy the anti-vibration pads sold for the Porsche Boxster S etc, NOT the RS2.

                          Cheers n
