Taking notes last weekend were we?

@ Iain, Copperslip dries out, plastilube stays the journey. Really does too, just replaced my 996 pads last weekend and the old still had some on the back. And thats after 12k miles and 14 months.

            -------------------------------------------------

Apparently the 996 pad design changed, earlier didn't have the counter weights on the top. According to Porsche parts dude it was changed to cure squealing issues, whether thats true, I don't know.

            Jas..
(do I get a prize for first using plastilube? )

i cured it with a repair kit from vag parts for the Big reds, and also use textar pads all over.they tend to get my wheels more dirty but do a hell of a job on NOT squeeking!!!

My Ferodos started squeaking after about a year, using Copper Slip. But I don't mind taking the pads out every now and again for a check.
Have you got the anti-squeal shims stuck to the back of the pads?

dont use copperslip, it goes hard with heat, you have to use plastilube

I just used it to see if it was the problem.
