So I need help here. For my new setup, I need a rear brake disc that has 15mm more hat height than stock S2. I need it to be at least 280mm, something like 300mm maybe. Bolt pattern 5-112, c-hole 57mm. Got any good options lined up anyone?

I was looking around for alternative front discs before getting machined SEAT carriers and found: -
312x25mm (common front for modern V6 models)
302x12mm (common rear disc for V6/V8 models)
300x22mm (rear disc from Audi S4 V8)
288x12mm (most common modern Audi front disc)
286x12mm (A3 rear discs)
There are also 280mm and 310mm 5 stud discs on bigger VW's but I do not know if they are 5x112

There is a 300 or 310mm disc option on the A8 - that will be 5x112 but I have no idea of c-hole or the hat height.
Aren't all the 5 bolt VW discs based on 5x100 ?

Sorry - of course 280x22 is correct - and good to hear the hat height of the A8/S8 disc is wrong for that disc on the S2 application - I'm doing the NeuS4 thing of course !
More to come very soon on this

So, stock hat height for the S2 is 39.5mm, A3 280X22 is 37, most comminly used up grade.
You are wanting a similiar sized rotor with a hat of 57mm. Not very common, but you could start you search on Ate site
or you could use the one from National:
What hub are you using that is 17mm longer than the stock one?
And what outer axle is 17mm longer and going to fit?

I'm leaning towards S2 front discs - I need 39+15=54mm hat - S2 has 56mm. Front discs will likely be 330mm.
Edit: Well, I looked through ETKA again. I found even more options.
Caravelle front discs:
280 x 24, HH=55
300 x 26, HH=56
313 x 26, HH=56
Sharan front discs:
288 x 25, HH=55
300 x 26, HH=56
313 x 26, HH=56
Cool! Now the 280 or 288 feel way better...Last edited by Henka; 31 January 2007, 20:44.Comment

Well my latest plan for the rear (this has been an expensive bit of research guys) is as follows -
8E0 rear discs 300x22 with HH=35 on 5x112. C-hole is same as S2 disc.
Machined down to 280mm diameter.
S8 carriers for 280x22 rear option. Expect I'll need approx ~5mm spacers/bracket to fit
RR/S6 calipers - these have the same handbrake setup as S2 Coupe and bolt straight onto the S8 carriers. Expensive alternate is lightweight S8 calipers as used by MarkH on a slightly different setup.
S8 pads and new S2 hoses
The last of the parts should be with me tomorrow and I need to get stuck into completing that job for an imminent MOT test... Too bad I have that timing belt service on the Allroad to do first. Boohoo
Note the 280mm machining of the 8E0 disc is just a Coupe requirement due to the handbrake niggles with the superior 8E0 calipers and carriers that work with the 300x22 8E0 disc with no spacers. Handbrake location on Avant and Sedan is such that this will just work with the complete 8E0 lineup.

Oh Henka if you have the luxury of hydraulic handbrake then the full 8E0 conversion is perfect for you. Look for my thread on this - it all bolts straight onto the Coupe with no spacers or complications. The only niggle on Coupe was the h'brake cable. Thats 300x22 with HH=35 on a 5x112 pattern and the C-hole is perfect for S2 rear hub.
Not the cheapest conversion in the world - but a very nice one !
