  • Anybody tried the Mov'it/Porsche conversion?

Does anyone have any experiences of the Mov'it/Porsche or AP Racing (front) brake conversion available from QST?

(Note the QST linked page shows a Mov'it 322mm disc size - there's also a 342mm which isn't on their site yet.)

Any alternative suggestions for an S2 coupe?

    Cheers.
Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

There is a huge experience of brake mods on this forum - do a bit of a search through the brakes section and see what people have done. Porsche mods are very common here, coming in all shapes and sizes, and there is at least one person with an AP mod (Lee I think??).

There's also a company called Hi-Spec who produce 4/6 pot calipers, a couple of people here have had their kit on the S2 also...

Depends on your budget, and whether you fancy getting your fingers dirty doing it yourself, or getting someone like QST, or HiSpec, to fit it all for you.

As well as what capliers to have, there is the question of what discs, then which caliper brackets to get, and then what pads...

A "common" setup here might be something like this:

    Porsche 4-pot calipers (993/968 etc)
Audi A8 discs (314mm, or machine them to 304mm)
    RS2 brackets
RS2 bolts (plus some spacers if you go for 314mm)
    RS2 hoses
Some "fast road" pads, eg EBC Reds, or Ferrodo something...

I have the "off-the-shelf" AP kit on the front - same as QST is selling. They are good but I think you can do better. What size wheels do you have? If you have 18s I would highly recommend speaking to Lee about his 6 pot AP/RS4 discs/custom metalwork - Probably not much more expensive than the AP kit and is a lot better.

I have had brake fade on my setup - might be due to crap fluid though - and it was on a tough track.

Have those discs had some special surface coating treatment, they look great

                          Hi TunedS2
You seem to have an RS2 kit!!

I hope that you manage to get it working ok.

The disks are coated/plated. I am truying to find out what it is.

It isn't nickel plate electroless or otherwise
                          not Cadmium plate,
not Zinc passivate. I will try to find out what it is and let you know. aftermarket disks are not plated or protected. and go off quickly.

I will post when I know. Any suggestions anyone.
