A couple of question about bleeding? Need Help

    Hi,

Was doing the rear calipers and then went onto bleeding the system, the old way. But sadly I forgot to keep an eye on the brake fluid container and it got way to low, and now I have air in the system.

My car is a 1992 3B LHD model

So how should I bleed the car?

    1. Clutch - Master / slave first - where is it located? Perhaps a picture.
    Then bleed 500ml?

    2. Master bleed valve ( if fitted, where is normaly located on the s2?)
    bleed 500 ml

then bleed 2000ml through the remaining valves.
    3. Rear right

    4. Rear left

    5. Front Right

    6. Front left

I don't think there is a bleed screw on the master cylinder. Other than that I think you've got it about right.
The clutch slave cylinder is a PITA to get at, as it is located on top of the gearbox. It's a little hard to get a camera in there.

      hei

always start with the wheel that is located furthest away from the fluid reservoir.
      1 rear right
2 rear left and so on-.....

Not always. But on the S2 that's right.

See no need for you to bleed the clutch but the rest is correct. I find the systems that feed brake fluid using pressure from a spare tyre into the master cylinder reservoir the most sucessful way of bleeding cars with ABS - especially if you're on your own.

If you are doing it the old method and have just got air into the system start at the nipple closest to the master cylinder, once you have got most of the air out then go back to bleeding from the furthest nipple working closer.

              Hi All,

So what your are saying is that I dont need to bleed the clutch? That would of course be nice, but why is it that I dont need to do that?

Even though the clutch is fed from the same reservoir it is a seperate system from the brakes, you might have drained the reservoir of fluid but there is enough fluid within the pipe down to the clutch.
If the fluid is old though it is worth bleeding as moisture within the fluid will still degrade the seals within the clutch slave/master cylinder. It will prolong their life.

Oki, but the only way I can lift the car up is by using a jack. So I have to lie under the car, so the question is, if it is possible to bleed the clutch lie under the car?

Is there only one bleed valve on the clutch?
