Brake problem after trackday - boiled fluid ?

    Hi all

I've just come back from Eurofest at Castle Combe, the car was surprisingly good on track it handled well and performed well (vid coming soon ) but i have a slight problem with my brakes.

The brake pedal is now very soft and spongy, the first pump after starting the car is normal then after that its very spongy and on the road brakes are almost non-existant which made the drive home interesting.

I've just tested my Bomb and it had 50 pumps before it went solid so i don't think its that, what i think i have done is boiled my brake fluid.
The brakes whilst on track (15 min session) were ok for the first 3 laps and the last 3 they were getting progressively worse but brake performance was still as normal just the pedal went down a bit further and felt softer.

Do you think a brake fluid change is on the cards or is it something else ?

Any recommendations for brake fluid that won't boil so quick ?

    Thanks
    Matt

    Please answer below:-

    Standard brakes and pads?
    Stainless lines?
Last time fluid was changed, grade?

Stands back and waits for hail of suggestions

You might have guessed S2 aren't the best on brakes by the number of brake mods going round!

    Sigh and opens cheque book.

Sounds to me like you may well have boiled the fluid - stock brakes and track days always equals fracked brakes!

If you want a proper brake fluid, get ATE Super Blue, that stuff rocks.
Did you also notice any blue colour on your discs, or smoke pourling from your pads? You may have destroyed the brake pads too, well worth checking those out.

I have A8/S8 330x30mm discs and TT calipers.
Discs are 5k miles old pads are standard quality items.
        Standard rubber brake lines
No smoke or blue discs, i might have ******ed the pads but i'm having the brake light come up on autocheck so its fluid related.

Hav'nt got a clue when the fluid was last changed or what grade it is as i've had the car since Feb this year.

Does brake fluid once boiled become totally useless i.e needs changing ?
If so i'll fit stainless brake hoses aswell changing the fluid.
ATE super blue eh, where do i get that stuff is it special order or available at my nearest halfrauds ?

        Cheers Chaps

I'm not into that colonic irrigation myself

Would you know how much brake fluid would i need to buy to change the fluid/flush out ?
I would imagine i could do the fluid change myself, just doing do one wheel at a time until the new fluid comes through or is there more to it ?

Many thanks guys you've been a real help

GSF used to sell the ATF stuff, there's super blue and a gold one of the same brake fluild I think so you can see the different colour when bleeding between the two.

IIRC for RHD drive cars the bleed order is it's passenger rear, drivers rear, passenger front, drivers front.

Your also suppose to bleed the slave on the clutch but I think most people dont bother.

Get a Gunsons Ezibleed and you can do it yourself. If your fluid is so nadgered, I'd say give yourself at least 2 litres to bleed through thoroughly enough. Jamo is right with the bleed order - you do the rear first because they've got the longest pipe runs so you pull out as much of that gunk as you can first.

If your front calipers have two bleed valves, do the outsides first.
