    996 Brake upgrade problems

    Gents,

I'm having some problems putting together my 996 calipers on the S2. I have added some photo's and you can see the caliper bolt will not align up with the hole that the bolt is supposed to go into. I'm using A8 323x30 discs, which are the right ones. Is there anything i could be missing and has anybody see this problem before? It seems that i have the wrong disc.
    cheers

The brackets look like SEAT ones that haven't been machined.

Just what I was thinking. As I understand it, the Seat carriers need to be machined to either suit the 314mm or the 323mm discs, but either way, they certainly need to be machined.

I am running 314mm A8 discs with Seat carriers which had 2mm and 5mm removed.

        Cheers n

Mmm... I'm also running 314 mm A8 discs with Seat carriers but I removed 4mm and 8mm from the mounting faces.

Is there a big saving with the Seat carrier, when you factor in machining costs ?

I have the RS2 carriers which I'm reliably informed bolt straight on with 323x30 disc and 996 monos. Hope I'm not being deluded here... That stuff has sat in a dang box for nnnnnnnnhhhhhhhhhhhggggggggggggg three years - OMG that is bad.

I dont think they are SEAT carriers i'll try and get a picture of the carriers and see what you guys think. I dont think the guy i bought them from would have made that mistake as he is a well known member of this forum!
I know that you need a HAT height of 60mm. Now is this height(with the disc lying flat on the ground)of the total disc or is it the height of the face where the pad would rub against to the face where the wheel is bolted onto?(again with the disc flat on the ground). Or is there a possibility that i could have different hubs from the standard one s my S2 is a 1993 L Avant ABY?

              cheers

Seat carriers cost me £12.74 each 6 months ago.(trade price from a stealer) Machining cost me nothing 'cause I work in an engineering machine shop, but it would be cheeky for anyone to charge much more than an hour or so for labour.

They are SEAT brackets and I did machine them.
I can't get them for £12.74 each BTW.

I would like to know this too. 034 list the RS2 bracket in both a machined and non machined version. These were listed for use with the 996 caliper with the 323 A8/S8 rotor. I e-mailed them for an explanation but have not heard back from them. I do not mind paying the difference between the two (65USD) but still would like more information. Corey?
                        Thanks, Chris
