    poss Brake Bomb advise?!

Bought the S2 recently with really bad brakes but havent driven hardly at all as it needs work in other areas too.

Had to drive it today as other car in for MOT, the pedal is REALLY soft and can be pushed right down, did the usual BOMB check by pumping pedal but i only have to pump about 12 times and the ! warning light comes on (and pedal still well soft!)

Fluids etc all seem fine, so does this sound like a "really" knackered BOMB? Will be running 996's and 323 discs as well later this month

    cheers

      Yep, all seems fine tho

The ! warning light wouldnt normally come on whilst driving or braking, its only when im sat ticking over and pump pedal about 12 times it beeps and displays. (first time i've done it today after reading other brake bomb test threads). Car is a 94 ABY with approx 118,000miles

sounds like they need bleeding.... if the bomb has gone, you actually get a hard pedal, not a soft one...
run the engine and then pump the brake after you have switched off, see how many pumps it takes to go solid....... should be around 50 or so...

Yeah, just tried it....bang on 49 pumps and it suddenly went solid! Is that just a case of bleeding system then??

This is what I would try.... is not an expensive thing to do, and is worthwhile anyway...
Get some decent fluid, I would do all 4 and the clutch... if possible...!
There are threads detailing exactly the correct order, and best fuid.....
order is something like NSR, OSR, NSF, OSF, clutch...
            Anyway, good luck.....!

hopefully you're in luck Darren and a simple bleed will sort you out...

Also check the condition of your brake pipes. especially the flexi ones.

Darren mine does this and has done ever since i cooked my brake fluid at Combe

I have changed the fluid but i need to re-bleed them again as i think theres still air in the system, might try bleeding them with the car running this time to make sure no airs trapped in the ABS unit

If its not that then i have been told my brake master cylinder could be on its way out
