      Well Greg,
These S8s only cost me 250USD from a breaker for the pair. Now since these were in really good shape, came off 02 car, I am not rebuilding them. The piston boot was in excellent shape, and the fluid was pretty clear when I screwed the piston back in.

The S8 calipers have not been out that long so you probably would not need to do a rebuild. These would save on the costs.

The most cost would be the machining to the rotors, depending upon which you chose.

They can have my car when they pry my cold dead fingers from the steering wheel.

Thanks Greg, Iwill look into the A8 rear caliper pricing, The 75 disk was a good find, you must have been trawling through the Brembo catalogue for ages to find those.

I will look at some Rover 75 disks and see if the fit is right. Any idea about model?

Tell you what Greg, I fancy going to burning man, I could bring them over.......

I don't think I will be going for years tho'.

        It looks a great event.

Actually the search was not that bad. I just keep going down in center bore size until I found a rotor that was close. I stopped at 64mm center bore.

According to the Ate site, all 1999 and up Rover 75s have the same front rotors. That should make it easier. You could possibly find one at a breaker and fit up a used one.

Can anyone please confirm the centre bore of the S2 disks please. I reckon 68mm but I found a site which lists it as 57mm! http://www.tyresave.co.uk/fitment.html

They say no erors or omissions.

There seems to be a mention of 64mm on this thread as well.

the Ford Galaxy, VW Sharan / Seat Alhambra has 5 x 112 mm disks, 35-38mm offset but has a listed centre bore of 57mm.

It is easier to get the centre bore enlarged than get the PCD re drilled. The studs sould be a tighter fit as well.

              Heeeeeeelp.

There is NFW I will put discs from a Rover 75 on the rear of my S2. I have a rented one with work at the minute - what a truly horrible car. The bad karma it exudes would not be appropriate for the S2 application ;-)

The only redeeming feature of the 75 is that you can leave it unlocked in a sidestreet and know that it will not be stolen overnight !

                  Understood Paul,

I have been spending some time trying to sort out a suitable disk and I keep getting the S2 / all audi range centre bore listed as 57mm.....

The best disk I have found so far is the Scorpio Cosworth rear disk which is 5 x 112mm and a centre bore of 57mm. The disk is about 300mm! rear calipers and caliper mounts from a Scorpio may be reasonably available..

Then again the Scorpio is not good looking. As our friends in the colonies would say "It fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down"

                    David,
The center bore for the Audi rotors is 68mm. The center bore for the Audi wheels is smaller. This is probably where you are coming up with the smaller number.

The hub just has a small shoulder for the rotor and then tapers down to fit the wheel. This is probably why you are getting conflicting numbers.

I can cope with Fords but not Rovers (except maybe an engine from an old V8 SD1). What hat-height is the Scorpio disk and what thickness ?

Thanks Greg I've just found that out with a micrometer and the hub in the workshop. I don't know what the hat height is Paul. I will look into it and report.

As I said earlier It is easier to machine out the centre than redrill the stud holes. So if the Ford disk fits then so be it.

I will go down to the local motor factors and have a play!

                            Hi

I have done my rear brake conversion now:

                            - Audi S4/C4 rear caliper (Girling 41/43)
                            - Audi 200 quattro 20V Turbo Rotors (269x20mm)
                            - spacer-plate ca. 6mm

                            That's it!

You can also take the Audi 200 Quattro 20V Turbo caliper or from an older A8 I think.
Many Audi's have the Girling 41/43 rear caliper.

I machined the spacer-plate (I don't know the correct word) out of an old 5x112 Rotor.
